This is a beautiful apartment in a central location. We found it easy to get around both walking and via the inexpensive taxis. We stayed here on both ends of our Mongolian (URL HIDDEN) was a great first location to stay during Naadam and while visiting friends, and an even better location to end our trip after touring in the country. We so appreciated the beautiful hot shower and the washing machine! The apartment feels safe and extremely comfortable. The events we did not go to in person during Nadaam (such as horse racing at another location) could be watched on the large television in the living room from the very comfortable couch. The windows offer nice breezes when open and good sound insulation when closed. We appreciated having such a nice space that fit three people. We will definitely stay here again when we come back to UB!

We had a great second stay at Oyu's apartment. As mentioned in our earlier review, the apartment is large, modern and clean. Our second stay came after 3 weeks of travelling around central and southern Mongolia. We stayed mostly in Ger camps but also in two hotels, one in a small provincial town and the other was high end business hotel in Dalanzgadad. Oyu's apartment has the one valuable feature which never found elsewhere in Mongolia, a powerful adjustable shower with lots of hot water! Very desirable! The neighbourhood is good, though sometimes noisy in the evening. There are good restaurants nearby - try Namaste for excellent Indian.

Oyu was very responsive to any questions I had about the property, arrival etc. The apartment itself was large, bright, modern and very clean. It was perfect for the three of us, my wife and I and our 14 year old son. We were centrally located within walking distance of all city sights other than Zaisan Hill which required a short city bus ride. The apartment is close to the University, there are many embassies nearby and lots of very good restaurants are nearby (Namaste around The corner was particularly good). The only negatives are that the linens could have been a bit more generous, and a few more plates in the kitchen would have been good.

I had the opportunity to travel to Mongolia for four weeks with a friend, and go any where I wanted. What I did not have was time to plan a trip, so I decided to start out by staying 5 days in Ulaanbaatar to figure things out. Everything about Oyu and her apartment was perfect for what I needed. It was clean, lots of space and the location was good. And anything I was baffled by and asked Oyu for help with - she was fabulous. Like - I will be arriving at 12:30 a.m. and how do I get from the airport to the apartment and get in. She arranged for a driver to pick us up at a very reasonable cost ... and the doorman had the key for us when we arrived. The apartment is on the NorthEast side of the downtown Central district, and is in a medical building. The neighborhood has a lot of university student housing and a Buddhist temple. If you like to walk it is within a kilometer or two of everything, but you will have to walk about a 1/2 kilometer to get into the heart of central district. You can pay more and get some thing that is a little more centrally located, but I like to walk and found that we averaged 8 - 10 miles a day cruising around Ulaanbaatar - anyway. If you figure out the cab thing ...Cabs are one of the delightful mysteries of Ulaanbaatar .... Most of them are an unmarked prius .... you stick out your hand and for 1-2$ you can get a ride anywhere in this district. I did not come away with a single negative. And at the end of our trip we returned to the apartment and I liked it even better. You see the washing machine in the picture ... after 3 weeks in the backcountry ... coming "home" to a clean well lit apartment with a washing machine /// was so...ooo very comfortable. This apartment set the tone for a wonderful trip - I took 3 days of mongolian language lessons ... and learned just enough to tell our driver that I did not want to go to places with tourist ... and spent the time wandering around the southern side of mongolia. I loved everything about Mongolia. Things are a bit rough and tumble - but in a good way Mongolians are friendly and rightfully proud of their country, and if you are ready to embrace things they will help you get just about anywhere. Also, as long as you are not doing stupid things, it is one of the safest places I have every been. And if you embrace the food - while not a haute cuisine - it has a stick to ribs quality that one can enjoy ... and the real restaurants the locals eat at run 2-3$ a meal. This is a good place to stay ...

A lovely and comfy apt close to downtown. A short walk or cab ride to Chinggis Square. Great furnishings and reliable wifi. The unit is inside a medical building, so it was a little funny walking past waiting patients during the day, but never a problem. Oyu was out of town when I was there, but always almost immediately responsive to questions and able to have people on site in the building help if necessary. I would definitely stay here again if in UB.
