The space

Maison Vauyon is an authentically restored stone cottage located at the end of a quiet lane in the medieval quarter of the historic town of La Charité-sur-Loire.
Staying in this village is like taking a step back in time, meet the friendly locals and enjoy the fact that you can virtually walk to every amenity, fresh baked croissants and locally roasted coffee, all at your doorstep.
Our maison has been restored from top to bottom, some of the features include: a traditional french-style kitchen with modern, gourmet stainless-steel appliances. This consists of a 5 burner gas range with rotisserie, large frost-free fridge, dishwasher and coffee machine.
The spa-like bathroom has heated tile floors and a generous walk-in Italian shower with hot water on demand. Heated towel bars and an antique cabinet with a copper sink complete the look. The extra capacity washer and dryer are also located in the bathroom.
The dining and living area will seat four comfortably, with a twin (140cmx190cm) pull out sofa-bed.
The back has a private terrace to enjoy alfresco dining and your morning coffee.
The upstairs master bedroom has a comfortable queen-size (160cmX200cm) bed and heirloom furnishings. With the ladies in mind...there is a powder room toilet and sink off of the bedroom.
This home also has the luxury of its own private wine cellar for you to store your favourite vintage during your stay.
From luxurious linens, to top-end cookware, vintage dishes and quality utensils...every detail has been carefully considered.
Just bring your suitcase!

Fantastic apartment in a great location for the town. Linda's guest information was invaluable, and suggested loads of interesting things to do in the area

Really beautiful, well-equipped cottage in a fantastic village in central France. Great region, particularly for wine-lovers, with plenty to do in La Charite and the surrounding areas. We spent a lot of time eating delicious patisserie, cycling on the Loire, tasting wine and eating in lovely local restaurants (I probably won't be trying pigs feet again in a hurry though!). Linda is an exceptionally attentive, helpful and friendly host, despite living on the far side of the world in Canada! There is lots of info provided by her in the house with advice on things to do, places to eat, and drink etc. - the sort of things that you wouldn't know about if you were just a tourist passing through. We had some issues with the running of the house, particularly the hot water supply, as we were the first people to stay in the season. Linda was extremely helpful in this situation, though, sending round friends that live locally to check up on us and sort things out, and was very apologetic for the inconvenience. All in all, a great place to base yourself if you want to explore Bourgogne. Equally, a fantastic house to laze about in, cook good food (great cooking facilities) and read a good book. Would definitely return in the future, though I would hope for warmer weather next time - visiting vineyards while it snows is a slightly confusing experience! Oh, and the wine cellar is fantastic - just for the pure novelty of it!

We live in White Rock, B.C. and we are wine importers although we are new in the business. My wife and I also restore old buildings in France. We have three adult children all educated, married and on their own. Life is good.
