Renovated rustic woodland cabin, 1.5 miles south of Biggar surrounded by a private woodland. Views to Coulter Fell and Tinto, wood burning stove/cooker, outdoor (heat your own water) camping shower, outdoor compost loo, 15 min walk to the River Clyde, Edinburgh 40mins by car
* This is not Glamping! ;-)

The space

A renovated wooden horse stable with mezzanine bed up a ladder, wood-burning stove (pots/pans/utensils etc provided), kitchen sink with fresh drinking water and DIY outdoor (hot!) camping shower. This is simple, rustic living for those who want to be closer to nature, surrounded by trees and birdsong. The site is not completely free of road noise (see satellite image) but with a light wind through leafy trees it's certainly well masked.

Guest access

Parking space next to main house then a 3 minute walk into the wood to the cabin. The ground can be muddy so boots are advised!

Interaction with guests

Sometimes we can greet guests, sometimes we never actually interact other than by email. We aim to leave people in peace. There is usually someone around at the nearby house in an emergency otherwise I'm available on my phone anytime.

Other things to note

This is a small 20 acre private woodland, one of the last few in this valley, in which we ask guests to be peaceful and respect the wildlife it supports. We request that guests stick to paths to and from the cabin and up to the viewpoint along the periphery of the woodland to allow any ground nesting birds or deer to remain undisturbed.

Surprisingly comfortable and very clean cottage. Cooking and hot showering worked well, but make sure you have your fire making skills ready. ;-) Be prepared not to have electricity, and enjoy your romantic stay "off the grid," as we did!

The bothy is beautiful and surrounded by nature. The hosts leave great instructions for the fire and of local walks. I went to the reservoir which is defiantly worth a visit there's a lovely pub and shops near by if they are really needed. The bothy is clean, comfortable and cosy. I thoroughly enjoyed my time here and would defiantly stay again. Thank you.
