Built in 1898 Goldfields Cottage is a country retreat sleeping up to five. A central base for your Sth Island holiday, with so much to see and do within an hours drive in any direction: Elephant Rocks, Steam Punk, Victorian Heritage, A2O Cycle Trail, river fishing, golfing, vineyards. . .Wow!
Goldfields Cottage is the perfect place from which to cross the Dansey Pass into Central Otago for the Central Rail Trail, adventurous exploration and family holidays.

The space

Goldfields Cottage is private, quiet and has sealed roads to the gate. We have plenty of off-road parking and if your group is large, there is even room for tents.
We also have a caravan power point available for those travelling with extra people; time to take Mum and Dad on that long promised holiday!

Guest access

You will be welcome to wander our space also and see the animals in their natural surroundings. Please leave all gates as you find them. There is also a short 1km walk to the river where you can swim or explore. 3km down the road is one of NZ's most beautiful golf courses. And so much more in the area...!

Interaction with guests

We like to give our guests space and privacy to enjoy our little piece of rural NZ, but we are available also should you have questions or should you need us.

Other things to note

Please remember that we are 38km from Kurow and 48km from Oamaru, our nearest sources for food supplies. Remember to bring it with you!

The house was warm and toasty when we arrived. It had everything we needed and Dawn was really lovely.

Kerrydawn and Ivan are lovely people. We got a warm welcome that made us feel home. The house is beautiful, enough space and has all the facilities that you need.

We had a lovely stay and Kerrydawn made us feel very welcome and was very accomodating. This place is great for a relaxing country getaway surrounded by beautiful scenic drives, such as to the Elephant Rocks. Would definitely recommend staying here to others.

We were very warmly met by Kerrydawn, who had the heatpump on and the great cottage in fine condition.

Green valleys, quiet, and serenity define this place. It is a very nice break from the bustle of Queenstown and Christchurch.

Gorgeous and lovely cottage! Kerrydawn was friendly and considerate. Although we checked in late at night, she took the trouble to come to greet us and to make sure all things are well for us.

This was our favourite place to stay in NZ. We enjoyed cooking marshmallows in the fire and relaxing on the comfy couches at this very well resourced and comfortable cottage. It's just around the corner from Elephant Rocks and we also went to the fossil centre, the Maori rock paintings and Oamaru.

Describe myself!?! How much space do we have? Mother, ex-truck driver, ex-High Country Pest Control Officer, farmer, wife. . . See those words "mother" and "wife?" They encompasses responsibilities and abilities far beyond what we have room for here. :-I
