Dirk's accommodation is the most amazing place to stay in. This is just the place to come to to find peace and solitude, to chill out completely to the sounds of the crashing waves and the cries of the sea birds, it's the next best thing to staying in a lighthouse! There are many interesting places to explore nearby, not to mention the fabulous beach at Streedagh. Dirk is a very gracious host, ably assisted by Fionn. I'll be back!!

Dirk and his family were wonderful, and his place is extraordinary, although best suited to a single traveller or a couple. You couldn't ask for a more remote and beautiful location, yet there is a well-stocked (and inexpensive!) supermarket not 5 minutes away, as well as a number of restaurants and pubs. The room is nicely apportioned, with high ceilings and a beautiful view. Streedagh Beach itself is an unbelievable spot. On one side, there are miles of untouched geological wonders (including a neolithic stone circle) and on the other sandy beaches perfect for swimming. Dirk himself was a great host, friendly and informative, and his kids were great. My only warning is about the stinging nettles which populate the fields. If you are unaware of them (as I was) you'll get a literal shock when you try and pick one. If you do, just pick the friendly dock plant likely hovering nearby. I'd rate this as a must-stay for any traveller, but particularly if you are in the mood for an unspoiled oasis that seems to bring you back in time 250 million years.

This is our second time to stay in this house, and it was as good as ever, with very pleasant improvement of shower due to new water-pump! Its a great house in a great setting, what more can I say?!

This was a great house, in the most fantastic setting. We hired the en-suite flat as well as with our group we needed to have two toilets and showers. Kitchen very well stocked in terms of crockery, pots etc for people who cook while on holidays. Fantastic sitting room with high ceilings and windows at both ends, giving views both over Stredagh beach and the headland. Great beds and linen etc. Lovely decor. Helpful information sheet made out by owner giving some detail about places to eat etc. Pity the Sauna wasn't functioning, maybe it will next year!
