This was a really great experience. My boyfriend and I were snowed in with the huge blizzard that hit this week. The location of this hostile is perfect, it's walking distance to really great restaurants and the area is beautiful. Sarge runs the place and he is so great. The home has a lot of board games to play which was a ton of fun and everything was clean and comfortable. I would definitely recommend staying here for a great experience

First of all I would love to thank Sarge for his hospitality, my fiancé and i stayed there for three days and wished for more days. The room we stayed in was very well maintained, clean and cozy with a mini fridge, cable t.v. a bunk bed and a couch. Everything in the house entirely is available (kitchen, living room, dinner table, restrooms). The best part is that the hostel is in walking distance of the village (a tourist attraction street) you can have breakfast, lunch or dinner at the many varieties of restaurants. You are also minutes away from many places to enjoy a great family fun day... last but not least- Sarge took care of us like family, and the parking is amazing.

I moved to Big Bear in 2000 after driving adventure tours to US National Parks and Baja Mexico to start an awesome home-style hostel.
Hostels were the cool way to travel before Airbnb and the sharing economy even existed!
The Big Bear Hostel on Knickerbocker Road hopes to become your "base camp" for outdoor adventures or relaxation in Big Bear Lake.
My friend and on-site manager Richard runs the day to day operations.
He answers the phones, checks guests in and lives on site.
We have 10 different room types. Private rooms with lake views for 1-8 guests or rent just a bed in a dormitory.
We will do everything we can to make your stay in Big Bear great!
