host communicated pretty well which was a good point. unfortunately the road leading to the house was very muddy when we first arrive, due to scheduled road work, had we known we might have picked another location, fortunately we had a 4×4 otherwise I don't think we would have made it. there is great nature around the house with plenty animals. we had some unpleasant insects inside and had the feeling the place hadn't been used for a while due to the smell and web cobs. we enjoyed the hammocks outside and the tranquility once the roadworks stopped. unfortunately we didn't get to see the hosts though. overall it's pretty decent for the value, especially if there's no work being done outside and no rain to make the road unusable. hosts are also knowledgeable about the region and will give you all sorts of tips which are very useful.

Thank you for staying at Casa Lina! Unfortunately we had to travel to Europe for couple weeks, and we know that the service is not the same when we are not here personally. We are back now and doing everything again for our guests comfort. the road work is done, our street ( and the area) has a new city water pipeline which is a really great thing also our guests can enjoy the reliable water supply. Sorry for the inconvenience. We will give you a free night stay if you return to us any time!

We loved our stay at Casa Lina, which was our base near Puerto Viejo for 3 nights. Kinga and Laszlo are fantastic hosts and went the extra mile to make us feel at home. We got tasty welcome drinks when we arrived (and even chocolates presented to us by their daughter Lina!). The room was really comfortable and clean, with a nice view out to the forest from the balcony. Aside from the occasional noisy motorcycle on the street behind the house, it's a very relaxing and peaceful place to stay and enjoy nature. We were also able to rent bikes from them, which we could use to bike to Puerto Viejo (roughly 10 minutes) and Manzanillo (about 30 minutes). We would definitely recommend this place to others!

The host are extremely polite and helpful. They were always available to make recommendations for activities or food (we were clueless). The residence was clean and beautiful, much more intimate then a hotel or resort. Would recommend to all, families, couples, or solo trip.

My only horrible renting experience in Puerto Veijo. To name a few of the perks that come with this room: the screens are not tacked on the wall, so mosquitoes along with other bugs are consistently flying around the room. There was a mosquito net over the bed but it was positioned wrong so the net did not fit correctly, defeating its purpose. The bathroom reeked of cat urine. Every morning there would be new rat/mouse droppings in the bathroom sink (so they were coming in the room while we were asleep). I felt dirty being in this room. And to REALLY top it off! Within our first hour upon arriving, we had left to go by the super market, we came back to notice that she had came inside the room while we were gone. She put ice cube trays in the freezer and opened the refrigerator and changed the settings we had set it too. The next day, while we were away, she came in the room AGAIN and moved our PERSONAL belongs. It felt like a major violation of privacy and left us regretting we had to stay there another night. The settings around this property is beautiful, but that's about the only good things. (She also says it's a 5 minute walk to the beach, it's not. It's about a 5 minute DRIVE on a steep rocky road) This is just a warning to those who rent from her: she should mention in her description that she will be entering your room daily.

Hello Maddy! I think you must have mixed your reviews, this is not about us, because we are not in Puerto Viejo, we are in Cocles, and I was out of town while you stayed at the Lodge, so I have never had the chance to meet  you personally. I was glad that you were completely satisfied with my place as you have written to me when checking out. I am really sorry that you had such a bad experience in Puerto Viejo. Hope to meet you personally next time!

Kinga and Laslo are probably the best hosts on airbnb! Super nice, helpful, and hospitable. Casa Lina, apt #2, is cozy, clean and provides everything you need to enjoy a great stay. The garden is beautiful, we ate breakfast on the private patio while watching baby monkeys learn to jump branches, just incredible. The wifi is a little weak inside but in the kitchen area (inside apt) and patio its great. Bed is comfy, shower is awesome, and private parking spot is included on the quite street the apt us located on. I would never leave if I could.

My friend and I had a wonderful stay here! Check-in was seamless and they were very understanding of our travel delays. They also helped us to arrange a private shuttle back to San Jose at 4:30am - above and beyond. Grateful for an amazing trip! I would suggest arranging a shuttle 24 hours in advance, I had some trouble getting there since I didn't choose to do so.

I can really recommend Kinga's place if you (like me) want a secret hideaway close to modern comforts but with a view of the jungle. It's cosy and clean and comes with a great terrace. You'll have everything needed to cook small meals and can rent bicycles easily. I really recommend a cycle ride to Maxie's and the beach at Manzanillo.

We are a European couple fell in love with this country ( especially in the Caribbean) more than 10 years ago. Life is here like in a hidden paradise, really close to the nature. No words can tell you how it feels like, you should try it! We wanted to share this unique experience also with others so we decided to settle down here in Cocles and built 2 apartments for rent. We gave the name after our 4 year old daughter: Lina. You can feel the nature really close to you, its an incredible feeling, but dont be afraid of the animals, normally they are afraid of human beings so they dont come close to you, you have to be patient and silent to be able to watch them . even the spiders or other insects :)
we have a sloth living with us on the tree next to our house, dozens of humming birds around, an iguana couple and a friendly agouti are visiting us frequently, not to mention all the birds flying around the house
We raise organic banana, pineapple and coconut in the garden, if you arrive in the right period we invite you taste them...
