Our cozy one bedroom cottage is one of ten cottages set in a large olive grove away from the road, only 100 meters from Porto Roma beach and taverns and a shop. A beautiful garden with much private space & lots of flowers.

Words fail me! Not literally but I am going to struggle to do justice to Daphnes Villas and Apartments. The pictures on the website are great and it tells you all you need to know (very accurately) about the accommodation and the surroundings. But what is can't tell you and I will struggle to do is the calming influence this life's work will have on your soul. DON'T come here if you want a lively holiday. DON'T come here if your kids want to splash around in a pool. DON'T come here if you want to eat fish & chips or a fry-up breakfast or everything with chips. DO come here if you want tranquillity and relaxation and to reset your mind. DO come here if you want to be surrounded by the smells and sounds of the local floral and fauna and not much else. DO come here if you want to cook your own food using fresh local produce to recreate Greek dishes and bbq the fresh meat and fish you can get from Zakynthos Town (a 45 minute bus ride or ask the lady in the mini-market and she will bring some back from you when she goes to town every Monday - and Maria will do the same when its convenient). DO come here if you want to bath in the sea down at the local beach to watch the sunrise and sunset - most days you will be one of only a handful of people doing the same. There are four local restaurants - we only ate out four times in the two weeks we were there - we tried three of them and all were good, serving authentic Greek dishes. The mini-market is well stocked with all the essentials but if you want a particular spirit make sure you pick it up in Duty Free on the way. But you must try the local wine at only 2 EUR a litre! Just fill up the empty plastic water bottle and take it to the till. And don't forget to buy your olive oil from Maria and leave room in your luggage to take some how with you - delicious and made form the olive trees you will be surrounded with. Maria and Dionysis are perfect hosts. We will be back. xx
