The Old Bakehouse is situated in a beautiful setting, surrounded by great countryside with plenty of footpaths offering fabulous rural walks. Close to many excellent pubs and within easy access of Petworth, Midhurst and Goodwood.

The space

Lickfold lies within the South Downs area of outstanding natural beauty and between Lodsworth and Lurgashall. It's a small village in a rural area with the old market towns of Petworth and Midhurst each a 10 minute drive away (as are the polo grounds at Cowdray) whilst Goodwood is a 20 minute drive.
The property is a small cottage probably 200 years old with some fairly low beams and is all single storey. However, there are a couple of steps into the sitting room and it does have some narrow doorways making wheelchair access tricky. The house is available to rent as a self catering property and there is parking in the driveway for 3 vehicles. There are 3 actual bedrooms and a comfortable double sofa bed in the playroom, that easily becomes a fourth bedroom. It has a lovely garden with seating, tables and chairs, bbq and an enormous trampoline (please adhere to normal trampoline rules). There are a few old bikes that we are happy for people to use, enough space to kick a ball around, and a few other garden games including a table tennis table for days when it's not too windy!
Inside there is a big selection of DVDs for adults and children and a dart board. There are only a few kids games, although there is a separate kids playroom with large TV and DVD player.
Please note we will be charging higher rates during Glorious Goodwood, Festival of Speed and Revival - please enquire.

Guest access

There is Wi fi throughout the house. Please help yourself to basic kitchen ingredients, though we would ask you to either replace or let us know if you finish anything. We are happy for you to bring a dog, though we would request that you let us know and that they are not allowed onto any furniture and are kept in the wooded floor areas if wet and muddy! We have a double sofa bed in the playroom that you are welcome to use, however there is an additional charge for bedding.

Interaction with guests

Either ourselves or a friend will meet you with the keys and we will arrange for collection of them at the end of your visit.

Other things to note

We will provide milk, juice and croissant for your first night, however we also have cereals and jams that you are welcome to. 1 mile up the road in Lodsworth (next door to the pub) is a brilliant award winning community shop that sells absolutely everything! We provide towels, t towels etc

I stayed here with a group of friends for two nights as we were in the area for a wedding. Debbie was clear in communication from our initial interest to booking and even contacted us during our stay to check that everything was going ok. The house is just lovely, the garden is beautiful and it has a great big kitchen. Everything was clean and tidy and every thing you could need was there. The house is in a rural location with great views from the garden, and would be perfect for a family weekend away and is a good base if you are staying in the area with a car.

This is a beutiful very well equipped home in a very tranquil setting. We stayed here as my daughter was getting married locally and we couldn't have asked for a more perfect place to stay. I absolutely adored the home and surroundings and Debbie was an excellent communicator and very accommodating. We would definitely recommend and will come back again Thank you so much Mary and family

A lovely English cottage in the countryside was a perfect location for a week with family. Our grand daughter enjoyed the sheep in the back field and the trampoline. The gardens were beautiful. The location perfect for country rambles and was very quiet. On days when weather permitted we sat outside for meals. The house was comfortable and well equipped.

We stayed at the Bakehouse as a couple (plus dog) over a long weekend. The house (and garden) are very lovely - spacious but cosy and very comfortably appointed. There are endless walks from the doorstep and plenty to see and do within a short drive's distance. Debbie is a great host and provided all the information we needed, together with some local recommendations, in advance of arrival. We had a couple of particularly pleasant meals at the Noah's Ark pub up the road in Lurgashall. A great break from London (and only 75 minutes away) which we hope to repeat.

Do not hesitate to come here! The cottage is situated in lovely countryside and has some great pubs within a few minutes drive. The gardens are beautiful and spacious, full of nice flowers and plenty of places to sit out. The cottage interior is charming, deceptively large and filled with everything you could want for a holiday. Truly a home away from home. The beds and bedlinen were very high quality and so comfortable and the bathrooms had high end toiletries. Cannot recommend this highly enough.

I am Debbie, mum to two teenage boys who sadly don't appreciate our weekends in the country and would prefer to hang out in London with their mates! My husband Adam, our little dog Maggie and I still love being at The Bakehouse and try to escape here from our busy working lives …
