Eight square meters room with queen size bed and you are welcome to use all the facility in the house.
Here you have the chance to live in a commune for few days and meeting up new people. This place is quiet but within city limits, with amazing view.
In the backyard we have 297 m. mountain which is perfect for outdoors activities. We also offer horse riding tours at the same place (URL HIDDEN) And from our doorsteps we often have spectacular view of the Northern Lights.
Welcome!

The space

The bedroom has a soft queen size bed and is suitable for two persons.
Akurholt is a small hobby farm in Reykjavik only 14 km away from the center of Reykjavik. It is situated in a beautiful hillside and has the atmosphere of a cozy farm. We have lived here for 15 years, but recently moved to a close by neighborhood. The whole house can comfortable accommodate 8-10 persons and has one shared bathroom.

At the same place we operate horse rental so if you are interested in horse riding please check our website (URL HIDDEN)

Guest access

Ready made beds and towels are included.
Full access to kitchen with dishwasher, mixer, microwave, toaster, juice press. WC with shower.

Interaction with guests

Our stable and our horserental is in the backyard and therefore guests can expect that we are at Akurholt and around mostly all day long.
But if guest are only staying for a night or so on, it might be they wan´t meet us as we do not live at the place. But they can always send us message.

Other things to note

There is a key box at the right side of the outdoor. You must put in the code number and press the over button to get the key. After you have used the key, put him immediately back and repeat the process.
If you put in wrong number there is a lower button you must press on and start the procedure again. I will send you the code number after you have confirmed your booking.
Room door for guests are always marked.

I hope you will enjoy to stay in our house. I think most of instruction about how to get to my place by bus or car are in the the description and/or in photo album. If there is anything you need information about do not hesitate to get in contact with us.

Unfortunately we do not have endless of hot water as we have electrical heating, but it has been enough for us last years and we are 5 in family, so there shouldn't be a problem. But instead of taking a bath full of hot water or a long, long shower, especially if there are more guests in the house I would recommend going to one of the 18 public swimming pools we have around in Reykjavik and nearby. We have two swimming pools within 6 km radius from our home. There you have a nice swimming pool with geothermal water, many hot tubes, sauna and water sliders and the best thing is that the entry fee for this spa is about 5-600 ISK and you could stay there the whole day if you prefer :)

And remember the Icelandic water is purely fresh so enjoy it straight from the water faucet :)

Akurholt is first and last place around our horses and horse rental but we offer four seperate ready made bedroom and shared bathroom, kitchen and living room. So this place is more like a hostel. But anyhow we are offering a cozy place where we hope you can feel like at home in this quiet, peaceful area.

Take a note that there is less privacy in a hostel than in a hotel and might not be comfortable for those requiring more privacy. Hostels encourage more social interaction between guests due to the shared communal areas.

Akurholt is located in the hills of Úlfarsfell and therefore it can be a lot of snow there during the winter time. We recommend people to have a car with good tires, while staying there especially over the winter time as the bus stops about 1100 meters away and the grocery store is located about 4 km away. Removing snow from a gravel path to our farm is not in a priority of city employees :)

We stayed for one night at this place. It is like a summerhouse with other rooms that also are rented out to other guest. There is a nice kitchen and seating area to use. The cat is friendly and the bed is comfortable. Check in and communication went smooth.

Very beautiful place to stay! And there was a bunch of food in the kithen so we got free day of meals, which is super great in a city as expensive as Reykjavik!

Quiet and scenic guesthouse. We booked for just one night and got in late/left early but everything stated in the description was accurate. Easy to find and access. I'd definitely recommend staying here and escaping the tourist crowds. Thank you!

They were great hosts in their lovely home near Reykjavik. A pleasant, comfy and quiet place to return to after a day of driving and exploring around the island. They have a lovely dog and cat, and also horses so perfectly fit for someone that enjoys the outdoors.

In general all services were Ok. All the instructions were very clear, included the location. The place is outside the city but close to. The views are very awesome. The only inconvenient is that the hot water depends on an electronic heater. One morning we had to take a cold shower.

Great and friendly hosts! Communication was awesome via airbnb app and response was fast too! This house has four rooms, great to get to know your neighbours and have fun! Room is comfortable and cozy, very clean! Apartment is very spacious to host all of us! Especially loving the kitchen and dining area, they have everything you need! Location is awesome for night view as it was quite dark outside the house, if lucky enough northen lights will just be right at doorstep. Car needed to travel ard as public transport is quite far and apartment is around 1hr drive from airport and 15mins drive to city. Overall really good to stay at Hanna house! Will be back if we have the chance! Recommand for all!

Hanna, Helgi And Jónína User Profile

We are Hanna, Helgi and Jónína Sif. Hanna and Helgi have been married for 20 years and Jónína is Hanna's sister. Together we manage this little guesthouse as well as a horse rental located at the same place.

Hanna and Helgi live close by (1km away) with their three sons, Jónína lives in Mosfellsbær - about 3km away.

We are working around the horses and the guesthouse everyday, but we do not live at the location. Hopefully we will meet you during your stay.

If you are interested in learning about Iceland, the culture and history as well as tasting some traditional food - you should check out our small horse rental and consider taking a tour with us.
