Our spacious double room with an en-suite bathroom overlooks a beautiful garden and fields beyond. Our lovely house is in a prestigious and quiet neighbourhood but only 10 minutes from Oxford city centre. We also have a single room listed separately

The space

This is the listing for our spacious room with a double bed, an ensuite bathroom, and view of the garden.
You can only book for two people on this listing.

We also have a single room, so if you would like to book this one also, or instead, please book it on our other listing: 'Single and Double Room in Oxford'.

The ensuite bathroom is brand new and has a high quality shower, toilet and handbasin.

Remember, that if the dates you want are booked up on this listing, go to our other listing 'Single and Double Room in Oxford' as you might find a vacant room there.

Our house is in leafy Summertown, a prestigious suburb of Oxford just 2 miles from the city centre. The bus stop is 3 minutes walk away and the journey into the city centre takes 10 minutes. We also have a free car parking space where you can safely leave your car all day.

A pub serving good food is 10 minutes walk away and a 15 minute walk brings you to the many restaurants and shops in Summertown . The famous 'Trout' pub of Inspector Morse fame is a short drive away.

The spacious kitchen is available for breakfast (cereal and toast, tea, coffee and orange juice). A fridge and microwave are available for occasional use in the early evening, or if you would like to stay more than a week, these could be available more regularly, by agreement. Longer term guests can also use the washing machine and drying facilities for £4 per load. We have a lovely big garden and if you like walking or running, you can take a number of attractive routes from the house.

We have lived in Oxford for many years. Helena is a historian and former tour guide and so we can give you the 'Inside Oxford' view.

We are both in the country and the city. We have extensive views of the countryside from the back of our house but we are also in the city - inside the ring road and only 2 miles from the city centre and only 15 minutes walk from shops and restaurants. Perfect!

Guest access

Guests will have access to the kitchen for breakfast and in the early evening for those staying more than a week by arrangement.

Interaction with guests

We interact regularly with our guests. One or both of us is normally around at breakfast time and we are available to advise on the best places to see in Oxford, transport arrangements, trips out of Oxford and so on.

Other things to note

We have lived in Oxford for many years and so can provide the 'insider' view.

This was a very comfortable stay in a large and airy room with own bathroom. The house is close to the busstop and buses into the centre are frequent. Helena and her husband are warm and friendly hosts who are very responsive to any requests. They provided me with easy-to-follow directions, information and interesting conversation - not to mention great cups of tea! Highly recommended.

Excellent hosts, comfortable digs, and charming cat in residence. A bit out of the way for someone who wants to be in town center but there is frequent bus service. And the price can't be beat.

Helena and Jeremy are amazing hosts, they are very welcoming and helpful in many aspects! The room is very clean and comfortable and the bathroom is new and clean as well! I would certainly come back to their lovely home and I recommend anybody to stay there! The house is of a walkable distance to the bus station and is easy to reach! Thanks Helena and Jeremy for making our stay so memorable!

Helena and Jeremy are the best hosts that you would ever imagine. They care about their guests and do everything in their hands to make their stay as enjoyable as possible, always with a smile in their faces. I miss them already! I stayed one month (May 2017) in the double room with ensuite bathroom. It is a big room with lovely views to the wonderful garden, and the bathroom is new and modern. I got fresh and clean towels and bedware every week. And the mattress and pillows are soooooo comfy! Breakfast was included in the price - Jeremy makes delicious homemade bread! He is normally around and is always ready to help you with anything you need. One of my shirts got discoloured and he helped me to remove the stains! The bus stop to the city centre is just 5 min walking distance from the house, and Summertown (with nice shops, restaurants and supermarkets) is only 15 min away. The bus ride to Oxford city centre is only 5min! I would definitely recommend staying at their lovely house!

I am a university lecturer and married to Jeremy who is a property consultant. We have four children who have all grown up and left home. They visit from time to time at weekends, but as we have 6 bedrooms, there is plenty of room for everyone. We love gardens and gardening as…
