Johnnycake Flats is a family owned B&B, an 1800's farmhouse and former stagecoach stop. Three inviting guest rooms, each with private baths and great views. All stays include yummy, homemade breakfasts, using organic/ local ingredients. Friendly!

The space

The Garden Room has both a queen and twin bed, private bath and can accommodate 2-3 persons. This room is a special treat, especially in the springtime, when the scent of apple blossoms drift in. You may also be lucky to hear a chorus of frogs during a summer evening. Views include gardens, pond and forest. A full breakfast is included with each stay. (Nightly rate is $125.00, for 2 persons, or $150.00 for 3 persons, plus 9% VT tax)

Guest access

Our common room welcomes guests with a cozy wood stove, board games and plenty of reading material. There are 16 acres to explore, photograph or paint, including a frog pond, vegetable and flower gardens, fields and forest. Toby, our friendly Border Collie is glad to show guests around or play an energetic game of Frisbee. Guests have access to a refrigerator, microwave, BBQ grill, tea/coffee, snacks, campfire ring, snowshoes, cooler, day packs, private entrance, secure storage for skis & bicycles and free parking. WiFi and Satellite TV are complimentary.

Interaction with guests

Our B&B is also our home and we heartily welcome guests to enjoy themselves while respecting each others' privacy. We are available to meet and greet, provide refreshments upon arrival, assist with dinner suggestions, activity planning and travel recommendations. Tour de Moon snowshoe tour, quilting and preserving workshops can be arranged with prior notice. (Separate fee for each.)

Other things to note

Our location is a perfect opportunity for star gazing, given there is virtually no light pollution. Come see the Milky Way, perhaps for the first time!
Impromptu campfires are always a big hit.
Johnnycake Flats is designated as a "Green Hotel" by the Agency of Natural resources. This means that we follow environmentally friendly business practices such as recycling, composting, towel/linen reuse, efficiency lighting and chemical use reduction where possible.

Debra is a very generous and accommodating host. The 1806 Farmhouse sits in an idyllic setting of breathtaking Vermont. We had everything we needed during our stay and Debra made us feel at home instantly. I highly recommend staying here! We loved playing with the bed & breakfast's border collie Toby.

Just stayed for a night so definitely didn't get the full experience that the location and hosts had to offer, but even during our brief time we enjoyed a cozy, clean, and comfortable room as well as a lovely homemade breakfast. Despite checking in much later than expected, our hosts were understanding and lenient. We would love to stay here again next time we're in the area!

Our stay was excellent. The house is extremely comfortable, clean, and quiet. Breakfast was great and homemade. The location is heavenly. At night you will hear nothing but crickets, and the stars were spectacular! Debra and Jim are wonderful hosts and great to talk to; they offered us a lot of suggestions on which natural wonders we should visit and how to get to them - very helpful and they will make your trip go more smoothly. They are also very responsive communicators. P.S. Toby the dog is sweet as can be :-)

Debra and Jim were gracious hosts who have been running their bed and breakfast for many years. Expect a rural farmhouse setting, delicious breakfast, and attentive service. Located about 30 minutes from Sugarbush, this is a workable option for a ski weekend. Tobey the dog is a great host too.
