It is a gorgeous private property with spacious rooms and a beautiful swimming pool. Location is pretty good. A few observations though: The lights are dim and dull, the surrounding porch and lawn are poorly lit every night we were there. The day we checked in, we could not see the pool because all the lights were switched off (such a shame as the view from the porch would have been stunning). The place (especially kitchen and bathrooms) has an odour that gives the impression the place is not used very often/not aired often. Black ants crawling on the wall and sink in one bathroom. Hairdryer is not supplied - had to ask for one. The other important thing is guests should know that the owner actually lives in the same compound. While that may not be a problem to some, we (a party of 4 girls) felt our privacy was encroached upon. On one occasion when we returned at night, we were lectured for not locking the bedroom doors despite the fact that it's a private property with security and a locked outer gate! One morning we woke up to find the key to the 3rd bedroom placed on a table on the porch - even though we had already closed that door (Because there were only 4 of us, we did not sleep in the 3rd bedroom, preferring to only use the bathroom). Which meant somebody actually came in and checked the doors while we were sleeping! It felt unsafe for us and it totally creeps us out. On the last day, the owner was kind enough to allow us a late check-out. (our flight was delayed).
My friends and I had a really great time at this place. The living areas and bedrooms were clean and spacious. The pool area was great and we really liked how they provided drinking water to avoid lots of plastic bottles! We had a little trouble getting to the house. Ida Guido was really helpful when we were a little lost. If you book this place, don't follow the (SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN) maps or apple maps location. (SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN) Villa Bel Air. Taxi drivers should know where it is. Ida Guido really went the extra mile with us to make sure we had everything we needed and more. He even gave us a brief tour of the area and helped us get some laundry cleaned from the house after we had been to mount Rinjani! He made our short stay extra relaxing. Thanks Guido!
Brilliant accommodation very clean, fab pool very private, Ida & her husband very helpful first morning showed us around town & took us to fab bakery. Restaurants very good only short taxi drive away, or a good one at bottom of hill from accommodation The Cow shed. Highly recommend this place.
I was having family vacation and stayed here for 2 nights. Ida is such a super friendly, warm and helpful host. The house itself is actually better than shown in pictures. It's well-maintained, clean and spacious. It's also placed in a strategic and quite place, yet very close to the crowd (caffe, bar, restaurant, beach, etc). What I love the most is, there are interesting collection of books in every rooms. Highly recommended!
We stayed at Ida and Guido's place for 4 days 3 nights. Guido is a great host, offered to take us for a quick grocery shopping and places to eat in Senggigi. And delivered what we bought to where we stayed, whilst we savored breakfast. One my teenage kids appreciated was two adapter chargers for phone connectivity. My kids loved the swimming pool, and the place is very suitable for families. I enjoyed the peace and quiet mornings the most. I would definitely recommend this place to my friends if they are in Lombok.
