Guest access

A multi-hued patchwork of scenery collides with the calming waters of the Pacific Ocean and beckons visitors to islands almost wholly volcanic in origin. Great stretches of lava beds stream from the dramatic fireworks of restless Kilauea and Mauna Loa, and glistening beaches reflect glorious rainbows and spectacular Hawaiian sunsets against a backdrop of rainforests. Adventure-seekers, enticed by tropical breezes and a sense of paradise, will surf, snorkel and sail in the warm, reef-protected waters surrounding the Hawaiian Islands.

We are not used to staying at timeshare resorts. I would suggest Irit change the part of the description that states ‘our beautifully appointed accommodations’ because it led us to believe that the pictures shown on Airbnb are of their own condo. When we checked into the resort, the condo we were assigned had a ‘partial ocean view in a tower furthest from the beach’ (not ocean front as in the picture) and the furnishings were different/worn, and there was also a musty smell in the condo. Because of our disappointment in the differences between this condo and the pictures shown on Airbnb, we contacted Irit. Irit’s response was…“The pictures are of different rooms in the resort as posted on the website. There is no indication which room one can get. It is depends on availability.” At this point, we were glad to have at least a partial ocean view. (You can still see the great Hawaiian sunsets from the pool area.) For transparency purposes, it would be helpful for Irit to include this statement in her property description to avoid false expectations. However, with the exception of the views and furnishings, the condo was in fact physically large and it did have the different types of rooms depicted in the pictures (kitchen/den space, separate bedroom, large bathroom) and the rate charged by Irit was reasonable especially if you want to use this resort as your base for exploring Maui’s many attractions. There is an underground garage for parking. There is a large pool at the resort, and there always seemed to be some lounge chairs available. There were many families staying at the resort and the activities center for the kids seemed to stay busy. Some other items worth mentioning: The beach at the hotel has been disappearing recently from erosion. Much of the beachfront is now roped off because of the high drop off. We were told that there were plans to now install a seawall. The resorts on each side already have seawalls in place. However, there are very nice beaches nearby if you want a beach. The resort is also within easy driving distance to Whalers Village and Lahaina where there is plenty shopping and restaurants. This is a former Embassy Suites property that is showing its age. Diamond Resorts is making some specific improvements to the property (areas under construction). I expect they will eventually get around to freshening up the resort with general improvements such as a fresh coat of paint, more room renovations, replacing worn cushions for the pool lounge chair, etc. All in all, the resort is in acceptable shape but not as well kept as some other nice resorts that you might see on the island (which would also likely cost you more).

Irit's condo was so very lovely and just as described. The resort was great fun for our family and I would highly recommend this spot. We can't wait to come again.
