The home is MUCH more spacious than we had originally anticipated. And Robby was very communicative and adaptive to our constantly changing schedule. With sky-lighting and several decks, the home was always flooded with natural light. I wish we were so busy with a wedding during our stay there. We would have spent a lot more time just hanging out in the home. What a wonderful place!

We really enjoyed our stay in Robby and Steves house! The house is very big and well appointed; all the rooms are lovely and everything was clean and inviting. There is no garden, but the house has several nice balconies. Robby and Steve live in the other half of the house, but with separate access. Steve also has a small shop in the basement, where he renovates funiture. This was no problem though, our part of the house felt very private. Robby and Steve are both extremely kind and very easy to deal with, perfect hosts. Dolores is a charming town, providing easy acces to both Mesa Verde and other beautiful sights in the area.

Response from Robby:
We are honored that your family came from so far to visit our little piece of the world. It is fun and exciting to welcome new friends to the beauty and diversity of the Southwest. Not so many people discover it - we get overshadowed by the places that are much more famous. Thank you for your kind words. Peace!

We had a wonderful stay in Dolores - the house was comfortable, spacious, and beautiful, and Robby was a fantastic host. The kitchen was huge, and we really appreciated having such easy access to a brand new washer and dryer. All of the bedrooms were well decorated, with plenty of space including balconies! Dolores is a cute little town with a few restaurants to choose from and a grocery store that has all the basics...including the New York Times (very important for my dad who is a former reporter!). If we ever find ourselves needing a place to stay in southwestern Colorado again, this will be our top choice.

Robby and Steve have done more work than you can believe on this 1920 generation house. Modern everything, great kitchen with great cooking utensils. Met them face to face on the second day of our stay and that only reinforced my phone conversation perception of them. Could not have had more gracious, caring and open hosts for the time we were in their home. I cook for our group and it was a small group (my dad and two other brothers and one more person in our group) this time. I had great cookware and a really, really nice and complete knife set to cook with. Cuisinart cookware and knife set are in great condition. It is my fervent hope and desire that future tenants treat this equipment correctly. Dishwasher, refrigerator and stove worked just as required. Heating (when needed) worked fantastic! We were hunting the third elk season so we were up early and back late with no negative responses from neighbors. The pictures on the website do not do the house justice and the locality is stellar. You will only leave completely enamored with the house and more importantly, your hosts, Robby and Steve!!!

The house here is gorgeous. It looked even prettier than the picture with spring flowers still blooming in summer. The bedrooms were spacious and the house was furnished with lovely furniture in top condition which suited the house. Fully appointed kitchen with quality knives and pans. The hosts were there to greet us and were really helpful and attentive, they made us feel very welcome and comfortable (the kids, 14, 11 , 9 too). They provided us with great local information that enhanced our stay. In fact, we found the entire town to be helpful. Everywhere we went people were happy to see visitors and chat or provide information about their little hamlet that they all seemed so proud of (and rightly so). I would describe it as a quietly confident little town. A place where people truly choose to be. The general store was great too (so many types of rice to choose from by the pound in such a small town really impressed me, La Brea bread too!). The Antique shop was a real find too. The river at the end of the street would be a fun hang out in hot weather too I'm sure. It was a great place to stay for convenient access to Mesa Verde, and also a drive to Durango and /or Telluride. I really want to come back and would definitely stay in this house again, it could be a destination in itself. This time I travelled with my parents and three kids. I look forward to returning with my husband and the kids.

We were Robby's first air bnb guests. Robby was a lovely host, the house is beautiful, decorated with unique furniture refinished by her husband Steve. They made us feel so welcome and went far beyond the call of duty. We came prepared for summer weather and were caught in a spring snow storm, they graciously provided winter clothing for all 5 of us! The town of Dolores is a beautiful small town, perfect when traveling to Mesa Verde, off the beaten path but a close drive to the park. There is a small grocer in town, filled with natural, local and organic foods. We ended up buying chicken pot pie, apple pie and green chile burritos and it was like homemade, definitely not to be missed! We would go back in a hot minute, they were lovely and interesting people and wonderful hosts!

In college I was forced to come up with my goals for the next 10 and 20 years of my life (30 years ago). The best I could do was to say I would live on all seven continents for at least a year. (But I got to determine the continents because I was not too excited about living in Antarctica). I have lived in 5 so far and feel pretty good about it. Obviously I love travel and people and cultures different from my own. Which makes hosting guests at our home so much fun. We love to meet new people and share the highlights of our part of the world. We also love good food and creative ideas and being busy and involved. Since we live on the same premises as our host home we can be as involved in your stay as you would like. Our experiences as AirBnB guests has also helped us figure out what we can do to improve our home. But it is a pretty sweet space since my husband is a furniture refinisher and a carpenter.
