A perfect getaway holiday home, impeccably stylish, rustic luxury. A bath in the vaulted oak beamed bedroom, woodburner in the spacious sitting room and free-range chickens in the garden. Original revealed beams and stone walls add to it's charm.

The space

Set in the glorious Dorset countryside, 20 minutes from the jurassic coast and within walking distance of the beautiful village of Beaminster. You can walk straight from the door across the hills on a vast selection of walks. The cottage is in the grounds of Wantsley Farm, a lovely family farmhouse which has 17 acres of rolling hills and woodland. It has its own patio area, and parking space for 2 cars, which can be a sun trap in good weather, and a garden area shielded from the house. The house has a Kingsize bed in the master bedroom and 2 single beds in the other, with a pull out bed for a 5th person. There is a shower room with loo and a separate downstairs loo, a roll top bath in the bedroom. Oak floors throughout, exposed beams, a woodburner stove and french windows make the cottage light and airy in the summer months and delightfully cosy in the winter. Home baked fresh bread ?eggs and jam available from the Farmhouse on request.

Guest access

Guests have access to the farms fields, the zip wire and streams, the woodland and can walk through the grounds to the local pub in nearby Stoke Abbott. Spare linen will be in the cottage, maid service will be weekly.

Interaction with guests

We would appreciate guests respecting our privacy and we theirs, we do have 2 young boys who we will always try to keep under control, but we cannot guarantee it! Sadly due to the proximity of a thatched roof we cannot allow BBQ's.

We enjoyed our stay in Dorset very much and the house was a good base in which to see the area. We were blessed with good weather so didn't spend too much time there but there were lots of games and DVDs had we needed to spend more time indoors. We have 3 children, one of which is just 4 years old so there was enough space. With 3 older children it would be a bit of a squash especially sitting in the living room and all 3 sleeping in one room. All in all, we had a lovely holiday!

Loved this place. Ideal for exploring the Jurassic coast of Dorset, or just a quiet stay in the country. The chickens were the best. Very comfortable beds, bath, and nice stove.

Excellent hosts, very friendly, very helpful. Great house, great grounds (fields, rope swings and a fabulous zip wire). Great area - very close to everything. Highly recommend staying here.

We had a great stay at wantsley cottage, and it really lived up to our expectations. Charlie and Tim are lovely hosts, friendly and helpful yet totally un-intrusive. The cottage has everything you need and is very nicely done up. The fact you have gorgeous fields right on your doorstep is super, and the coast is only 15 mins drive away. We'd definitely recommend staying here and look forward to returning sometime soon!

We had a fantastic week at Wantsley. Lovely cottage beautifully finished inside with everything you could want. Charlie, Tim and the boys were great hosts and especially Harry the dog who regularly came to check we were ok. Same with the ducks and chickens! Great location perfect for a weeks holiday. I can't recommend it highly enough. Andrew, Jenny & family

We had a fantastic stay in Wantsley Cottage. The cottage is beautifully finished and extremely comfortable to live in.The children enjoyed the outside environment that the farm offered and their adventure grew as the week progressed. Tim gave us a number of great recommendations and we found the area had everything we could want including great country towns restaurants and beaches for the children to play.Would definitely stay again and happy to highly recommend Steve and Sue

Beautiful part of the country, a perfect base to explore the region. The cottage is really well equipped, clean and pretty. Our children loved feeding the chickens, the rope swing and the trampoline. Lovely hosts.

I'm a jazz/cabaret singer, ex-actress and Aerialist instructor, and something of a coffee nut, so there is always very good coffee to be had here! I am married to a photographer and have two small slightly noisy, but adorable boys. We love to travel with packs on our backs to distant lands with adventure in mind, but love nothing more than walking through the beautiful Dorset countryside we're so lucky to live in. Theatre, books and swimming are what make me tick, when time from running a busy family allows that is. We have a pretty relaxed and laissez faire attitude as befits life in the countryside.
