"The Chocolate Yurt" is a fully insulated 6m yurt with a skylight to gaze at the stars at night.
A private retreat in the native bush with outdoor kitchen and bath/shower, both with amazing views of the Motueka river valley and the Tasman Bay beyond

The space

Our yurt resides in an eco village in the Motueka river valley, 15 minutes from Motueka.
The handcrafted wooden furniture gives it a warm, inviting atmosphere. A woodburner provides warmth for the winter months.

Guest access

You will have your own access and private eco retreat. We're at the end a 1.5km steep (but easy to drive with a "rental"car) gravel driveway.

Interaction with guests

Quests will be given their privacy but we're always in for a chat.

Other things to note

We're "off the grid" and get our electricity from an alternative power system shared with the village.

We have a composting toilet.

Our 200 ltr. solar/wetback system will provide your hot water. Several overcast days may result, without lighting the fire, in no hot water.

You need to drive up a hill to enjoy the beautiful views. Store up on food if you don't want to drive to much.

Tessa offers massages for our guest. She's a qualified holistic massage therapist. You can relax and rejuvenate if you wish, just let us know in advance. Costs $ 40 an hour.

What an amazing gem! The whole place is so beautiful with views and the sound of the birds. The kitchen has everything you would need and the yurt itself is just wonderful. Tessa also made us a wonderful breakfast which was super tasty. We wish we had stayed longer!!

My partner and I had the most amazing stay in the chocolcate yurt. Waking up to the most amazing sunrise with birds chirping in surrounded by chirping is beautiful. Having a fire makes it so cosy at night times whole watching the stars through the star gaze. Remko was lovely and very helpful. We 100% reccomend to anyone who is wanting to get away, romantically or with the family. Thank you!

Tessa and Remko's place was incredible - more than we could have imagined! This was our first yurt experience and it was absolute luxury - such stunning, beautiful craftsmanship from the furniture to the outside kitchen and by far the most stylish long drop we've ever experienced! The outdoor bath was a real treat and the views from the deck were amazing. Such a beautiful place we didn't want to leave. Couldn't recommend it more!
