Grocery store (with liquor and pharmacy) 5 minute walking distance away.
Interaction with guests
The upstairs apartment is completely seperate from the downstairs house (our full time residence). As with most apartments, there is some noise shared within the building. A loud TV/radio or booted footsteps are audible through the floor (both ways). We have a quiet lifestyle, so you shouldn't have to complain about our noise, and we are used to having guests upstairs. As the place is in the dead center of downtown, there is some road/ambient noise during the days, and in the summer the pub next door often has live music until 9 or 10 pm. Nights here are quiet with spectacular stargazing. The large backyard is partitioned by a fence, so you may meet our friendly dog and cat as they roam our adjoining backyard.
Other things to note
As this is an attic studio, there are some low ceilings and a bit of stooping involved. The stairs are steep (think Amsterdam). Probably not a comfortable fit for very large people. I'm 5' 11" and I have to stoop at the top of the stairs and bathroom entrance. The bathroom has a curtain for a door, so don't plan on locking yourself in the bathroom for a minute of privacy from your traveling companion(s). All said it is a very comfortable, private space.
No pets, as we have our own. No indoor smoking, but the porch and backyard are very pleasant. We are a friendly, accepting, non-judgmental married couple, both life long residents of northern New Mexico. We're not uptight.
