A rare chance to experience the genuine Puerto Rican life that very few tourists ever get to see. My humble but lovely little home is located in the traditional fishermen's (and gradually upcoming) neighborhood of "Ponce Beach," a peaceful, friendly, very safe area near a waterfront, some restaurants, the Guancha open-air cultural boardwalk, etc., and close to the city center and other attractions. Most things are fine since the Hurricane, but the area/street is still somewhat battered in places

This was actually my second stay. Parts of the neighborhood have still not recovered from the hurricane, but Daniel's place was great again. Neighborhood's a little shabby, but seems safe. AC worked great. New mattress was very comfortable. It's helpful getting Daniel's advice a…

Daniel's cute little house was the perfect spot for me in Ponce. It was quite refreshing to get away from the tourist hotel strip malls, and deep into local Puerto Rican life. His neighborhood is so interesting, a bit run down in some places due to the hurricane, etc. but also…

While the host does have this place listed as a Puerto Rican experience, I have lived in Puerto Rico in the past and have stayed at a better insulated and cooled off house. For the amount of money one pays I would hope that the owner could invest in some insulation without dimini…

Response from Daniel:
I'm very sorry to hear that your experience was not entirely positive. I'm also a bit surprised, as I informed you --before confirming your reservation -- that although in general the feedback on my place has been very positive, I have occasionally had bad experiences specifically with one-night stays. I explained to you that, due to fees the company charges, in addition to needing to pay my cleaning person for two visits (one to clean/prepare the place and then again to clean up afterward), it's basically something of a lose-lose situation both for myself and the renter, who must pay an overly high rate for the place. For that very reason I have been declining most one-night requests; however, you were (when you contacted me, at the last moment/just hours before you checked in) very insistent on needing a place, so I reluctantly agreed to rent it to you (and accepted somewhat less than my normal charge). Even so, you now complain that it is overpriced. I also don't understand your point about "insulation"? The AC system works very well (in half the house, as advertised), and you are the first to make this complaint. Furthermore, you left the place somewhat of a mess (dirty diapers in the garbage without using a plastic bag in the container, etc.) and -- for the first ever since I've been renting out my place -- you left both doors unlocked! To be honest, this experience has reminded me again that it's really not worth the one-night stays, including that the type of people looking at the last moment have often not been the type of guest I prefer to have. Thanks for your feedback, Daniel

The place is just as described: a real barrio experience. It was a way to experience a different side of Puerto Rico, and we felt perfectly safe. Some things to note: the AC is only for the first bedroom and kitchen area (the other bedroom has two fans which are adequate enough f…

Great spot! It's just as Daniel advertised and he was very accommodating. If you're travelling through Ponce and need some space, stop in!

Daniel's place was exactly what we needed. It was a central location for exploring Ponce where we could get some sleep and see the less 'tourist' side of Puerto Rico. He and Coloma were super helpful and were great communicators. The place is comfortable and decorated from his ap…

The host is a great communicator, directions were spot-on, the home is basic but very comfortable and it's in a very quiet and safe part of town.
