This spacious and luminous 70s maisonette is located in a florid mini-jungle in the best street of el Poblado, with great restaurants and cafes just around the corner. From the first time I entered, I fell in love with its unique architecture and am always looking forward to stay here. Its a old school James Bond home open to all relaxed and tidy people who like shared places with privacy. The Treehouse with its ladder is for the more adventures ones. Hookers and Parties aren´t welcome.

The space

This cheerful and tidy home in the heart of el Poblado stands out through its unique 70s architecture which features lots of wood and beautiful brick walls. It is a spacious and luminous space which transmits a beautiful relaxed energy. The common areas of the flat, such as the spacious kitchen, the luminous hammock area, the garden and living-room are free for everyone to enjoy. The place is located just a three blocks above Parque Lleras and usually very calm.

Guest access

You have got access to everything. Kitchen, the Living-Room, Balcony and the Luminous Maisonette Hammock area shown in the pictures. If you like dogs you are also happily welcome to hang out in the garden - my two german shepherds might not let you leave again though haha. This indeed is a great place to relax and feel at home.

Interaction with guests

If around I am an easy going person, like to have a chat and help out with tips about the city, as I used to work as a tourist guide. If not, my roommate Alexandra, and Co-Host Carolina are even nicer than me ;)

Other things to note

- We have a great in house laundry service. - For safety and comfort I recommend my driver for airport transportation. He charges the same as cabs and waits for you with a sign with your name on it and always is on time.

When you are done with the party hostels downtown, and would like a nice, quiet, clean place to relax; remember this listing! Fantastic area of town and communication with Carolina was amazing. She let me leave my bags there after checkout while I went on a tour of Medellín. My only regret is that I didn't get a chance to thank her personally! ¡Gracias por todo!

Beautiful apartment in a quiet area but close to El Poblado nightlife and loads of fancy restaurants and bars (more European prices though, but that's El Poblado). Unfortunately we never met Michael or any other host, which made our stay more impersonal and more like staying in a small hostel. Still perfect to chill out for a couple of days!

Michael is phenomenal. He is very communicative and accommodating, and he made the entire experience so easy. His home usually hosts a number of guests, and while maintaining privacy for individual guests, the set up allows for great spontaneous conversation and friendships. We absolutely loved staying in the AirBnB--really a gem!

I was very comfortable staying there. It was nice and quiet and there are lots of restaurants really close by. Michael arranged a driver for us from the airport and always responded quickly to my questions. I would definitely recommend this spot and I would stay there again.

We stayed in the treehouse during our stay at Michaels place, it is clean and looks exactly like the pictures. Now, if you are looking for privacy or are worried about your things being stolen this is not the spot for you, the treehouse does not have a door just a curtain. It is loud at night but we didn't mind. I would suggest renting a room at his place instead. Everything is walking distance and the area is safe, even at night. The hot water wasn't working but Michael was responsive and fixed it so we appreciated that. My only bad experience was we left a bottle in the fridge and it went missing. I suggest not leaving things out just in case. Overall we enjoyed our stay in El Poblado but will not be booking the treehouse if we come back. Thank you for your hospitality while we were here! -Manny & Daisy

I am so sorry to hear about your bottle of liquor. Maybe Victoria threw it away as she knows that I hate liquor in the house.

Michael was excellent at communicating, and his housemate Alexandra was lovely. The treehouse is so unique and is a fabulous space to stay in. As it is shared accommodation, it is a good way to meet other people who are also travelling. Very good location and so close to bars and restaurants!

The apartment is amazing, the best part is the high ceilings and the hammock with a great view. It is really well located and in walking distance of cafes, restaurants and a grocery store.

I am Michael, a buddhist, Meditation& Yoga instructor and traveller. I am in Colombia since three and a half years and run a Retreat Center one hour outside of Medellin called La Casa de Loto. For my days in Medellin I have a great old-school Maisonette which two years ago I decided to share with people, as I am not home too much. You´re happily welcome to both places, and if I am around I am always happy to share a cup of tea and some stories. If not, my roommate Alexandra and Co-Host Carolina are even nicer than me anyway ;)
