We didn't meet the hosts during our 7 night stay in Florence, though they always replied promptly and politely when we contacted them. Instead we were met by their son who was pleasant and briefly showed us around the apartment.
When we were left to ourselves we had a good look around and discovered the terrace. Florence was our last stop on quite a long trip around Italy and we planned on having some relaxation, which is why we chose this place mainly based on the terrace. However we were hugely disappointed to find that the view was totally obscured by a building / construction site on the building to the left. Though we appreciate this is not the fault of the hosts we would have appreciated knowing about this beforehand so we could consider whether to stay elsewhere or not, again purely based on the fact we wanted to just relax on the terrace and enjoy the view. Also, it's worth noting there is an apartment above the terrace with a window that overlooks it.
The place itself is spacious and the location cannot be faulted, if you want to stay right bang in the middle of Florence near all the sites and attractions. A downside to the location for us was noise, which starts from about 6am onwards. We personally found it extremely difficult to sleep after 6am due to the loud noises seemingly from deliveries and trash collections from the street below, even with the windows and shutters down we still found it too loud to truly rest. Also, though the air conditioning is fair, we found it extremely loud so having it on at night meant we had broken sleep too.
We can only comment on our own experience and point of view but for us, staying a week made these issues seem worse, if you were planning on staying in Florence for a short stay we would have no hesitation at all in recommending the place, the hosts are very nice as is the location, and the place itself is good on the whole. However if you are planning on staying longer than a few days, or are light sleepers such as us, you might struggle slightly.
