Experience Banks Peninsula in a truly unique way by treating yourself to a stay at our coastal retreat about 3km from Akaroa. Our studio, attached to our home with separate entrance, enjoys a magnificent sea view from your bed, ensuite bathroom, kitchenette, free WiFi & SkyTV, air-conditioning & private use of a shared outdoor spa pool.
The space
The studio is a private suite with a queen bed, table and chairs, ensuite bathroom, kitchenette with microwave, fridge, toaster and jug (please note that there is no access to an oven, cooktop or barbecue and we do not permit use of guests’ camping cookers), air-conditioning, WiFi, SkyTV including sport channels, stereo, DVDs, CDs, books and magazines. Very quiet and warm.
Guest access
Access is by its own entrance door adjacent to where you park your car. Guests have their own key and can come and go as they please.
Relax in our outdoor spa pool (jacuzzi) overlooking the harbour... located a short walk from the studio. Use is shared with guests in our other accommodation so please contact us to reserve your private time - 60 minutes max, once per night booked, finishing no later than 10:30pm.

Akaroa Harbour is famous as the summer playground of Hector's dolphins, the world’s smallest and rarest species. The Akaroa Coastal Studio is close to the start of the Banks Peninsula track and handy to other walks, restaurants, cafes, boutique shopping, museum, wineries and a variety of outdoor activities including scenic harbour cruises, swimming with dolphins, kayaking, golf, horse riding, tennis, bowls, sailing, fishing, and cycling.

Look for us (akaroacoastalretreat) on Instagram for photos showing the amazing scenery you can expect to see when visiting Akaroa and Banks Peninsula. Akaroa is a small seaside settlement, 80 kilometres by road from Christchurch. The Maori name translates as 'long bay' and refers to the harbour, in the crater of an extinct volcano that has been flooded by the sea. The town itself is truly a coastal retreat, at the end of the only road linking it to the city. You will not find it by accident, passing through on your way to somewhere else. You must decide to come to Akaroa and when you arrive... the rest of the world will seem a million miles away.
