Our rustic and eclectic cabin is surrounded by redwoods, walking distance from the river, and is a great place to unwind. It's a great place for kids and adults alike. Families will appreciate the swing set, the tree fort, children's books, beach toys, and built in baby gate. Adults will like the places to relax and look up at the trees, the proximity to wine country and the city, and the fun of making fires to warm them up. Everyone loves the river and the short drive to the ocean.
The Blue House is cozy but functional with about 600 sq ft of space, newer kitchen appliances, and an open layout. There is one bedroom (with a queen bed). In the main room, there is a loft with a full size bed. There is also a pull-out trundle day-bed (i.e. 2 more twin beds).
Mostly what we love is it's location - convenience in closeness (a little more than an hour from SF), embedded in our favorite area of wine country (Russian River and Dry Creek), swimming, tubing, boating in the river, being surrounded by redwood trees and their ability to make you feel small, and proximity to the wild California Coast. It's such a great base for exploring. But the house is a place where you can slow down. There is fast internet if you want it, a tv and stereo, but it's also great for just building fires in the fire pit and hanging out in the hammock.
The house isn't totally secluded, but it's all fenced in and feels a little like your own world. The house that it backs up to very rarely has people in it (I think we saw them two weekends last summer). Not many people drive down the street. It's around the corner from any other houses on the street so you get a nice view of the hills from the kitchen and dining room areas.
Guests have access to the whole house and yard.
Interaction with guests
You'll have the place to yourselves.
Other things to note
The Blue House is great for kids. We've got a jungle gym out back and the beginnings of a tree fort in one of the old giant redwood stumps.
Be mindful of the neighbors, no smoking inside.
