The space

This special little cabin can be found off a short dirt road nestled at the base of Glassy Mountain in Tiger -- which is 10 minutes from Clayton, Georgia. Perfect for couples, a small family, or individuals looking to get away from the city and take it down a notch. and relax. Our little cottage is nestled in a tiny meadow surrounded by forest at the base of Glassy Mountain . Just 30 miles south of the North Carolina border, this lovely property backs up to 10,000 acres of Chattahoochee National Forest and is the perfect base camp for both adventure and relaxation -- even in the same day. After a day of activity you can take in the sunset and sweeping views of the surrounding mountains from the expansive front porch with a glass of wine in hand. Most activities are within 20 minutes of the cabin. Enjoy kayaking and whitewater rafting on the world famous Chattooga River, mountain biking, golf, or boating on Lake Burton and Lake Rabun. If fly-fishing is your thing, enjoy world class fly-fishing on any number of crystal clear streams in the Chattooga watershed all the way up to Highlands or Cashiers North Carolina. Be sure to visit historic downtown Clayton for an afternoon of antiquing and a nice glass of wine at Fortify or The White Birch Inn -- Clayton's two best fine dining options. For a more laid back atmosphere try The Universal Joint for beers and live music.

Guest access

Guests will have access to the entire property except for the barn. We have super-fast WIFI so you can stay connected. We want all our guests to have WIFI access however, data is limited so please don't use bandwidth hogging applications like streaming (TV, Netflix, etc). Besides, you are in the mountains so unplug, step outside, listen to the wind in the pines, and enjoy nature. The graphics are amazing!

We spend much of our time outside or on the expansive front porch. The space has one bedroom, a loft upstairs, and a futon in the living room that folds out to sleep two. A blow up mattress is available in the loft for an additional two guests if needed.

We had a wonderful, relaxing getaway from Atlanta at Jen's place near Tiger. The cabin is small and cozy and was the perfect size for my wife and I along with our 2 year old son. It was a blustery cold weekend so we couldn't enjoy the outdoor amenities but the reading porch looked really inviting. The cabin was well stocked with everything we needed and the gas furnaces kept us warm. During the day we checked out Black Rock Mountain State Park, had lunch in downtown Clayton, shopped in the Wander North Georgia store, and enjoyed wine tastings at Stonewall Creek and Tiger Mountain winery. We would love to return again sometime.

We needed a break from the stress in Atlanta and we got one. Just a short 2 hours outside the city, up some crazy looking backroads is this little gem. There is a large field in the front yard and a super cozy porch to watch the sun go down. Some time in the hammock, a couple feet away from the porch, certainly put my mind at ease. I love the simplicity of the house and the gorgeous reclaimed floors and claw-foot tub. Also, the stars are out at night, brighter than I've seen them in years with all the pollution from the city. Jen was a text message away and super helpful with all my crazy grill questions. The "welcome packet" email explains everything you need and check-in was super easy. The downsides were that we went after Labor Day...which means the beach on Lake Burton was already closed as well the one at Tullulah Gorge Park. The owners have a whole barn of water recreation equipment, but we woulda had no way to get it on our car to somewhere (so bring some foam blocks and tie downs perhaps or a roof rack if you got it). I would have loved if there was a swimmable river or something nearby (not driving distance) is the only thing...something for my 2-year-old son to waddle around in. However, if we got to know the area better or did our homework on some day-time activities we will definitely rent again! It was a perfect, simple little retreat. Thanks Jen!

Great, Cozy, Secluded Cabin in the mountains. The hosts were very responsive, and were considerate of the power loss we suffered due to Hurricane Irma and provided a discount to us. The cabin has a shed with lots of kayaks and fun outdoor things to do, a garden that had peppers and tomatoes. The outdoor shower is great for the summer, in cold weather though an indoor shower would be nice. But the bathtub is very clean and comfortable. The only TV is upstairs in a loft, but we did not use it. No cable, but does have a Roku. The wifi was in and out for us during our stay, and was on the slower end. There was no service for Verizon phones there. If you're looking to unplug, and be in a cute and comfortable cabin, close to many hiking trails and only about 10 min from downtown Clayton, this is a great cabin. Downtown Clayton, GA has some of the best restaurants for any town. Definitely would recommend Fortify (nice restaurant, must have the filet mignon- its ranked in the Top 100 steaks in the country and its delicious!), Fortify Pi has awesome Pizzas and beer. There are two great bars- Universal Joint (Great burgers, beers on tap, and live music- able to watch football games here) and Clarks on Main (great sportbar, again great burger and tons of TVs). Breakfast/Lunch- MUST go to FROMAGE- menu changes weekly and we ate here 4 times, was amazing! Get there early to get desert before they run out! Must stop in the Wander North Georgia shop on Main St. Downtown Clayton. We've followed them for years on Instagram, and thats why we decided to go to Clayton. Stop there first to get some great swag/hats/shirts, and they have all types of advice/recommendations on hikes and parks to check out. They'll provide maps and directions for each.

I did not want to leave this sweet retreat of a cabin. It was truly a perfect place to escape the world and slow down. Ripe tomato plants, apple trees heavy with fruit, bushes alive with butterflies, a wide expanse of stars and night and warm grass during the day, hidden outdoor showers and delightful indoor baths, a loft perfect for meditation, a kitchen as cute as it is functional...every detail was considered. More than anything, though, it just feels like home from the minute you step through the door. After only a few short days, I had a hard time remembering I hadn't always lived there. Don't miss out on this sweet little sanctuary. Can't wait to go back!

Had a lovely time here for a long weekend before the school year starts up. This place was the perfect size for us and the property was beautiful! We hiked to a nearby waterfall on Friday, then found Orchard Hill Farms on Saturday and our (almost) 5 year old loved the rock collections and play areas! Had wonderful weather and enjoyed eating home cooked meals outside on the covered porch. Can't wait to come back. We may even try it out in the winter to check out the views. Thank you Jen and Jiri!!

This is a great cabin for a getaway with the kids. We did lots of hiking and kayaking in neighboring towns that were just a short drive from the cabin. The place is very rustic, but perfect for a weekend in the woods.

Hi, we are Jen and Jiri (pronounced like Yuri). We live in Atlanta but we love to escape the city and come to our refuge nestled in the mountains of North Georgia. Jen is an introverted, bookish PhD candidate/actor. Always looking for a quiet place to read, write, and hopefully drop into a yoga class now and then. Jiri's passion is mountain biking or kayaking the whitewater of Georgia, North Carolina, and Tennessee every weekend -- so Tiger makes a great base of operations. Our idea of a perfect weekend is to head up to the cabin Friday after work and catch the sunset with a glass of wine. Then Jiri will go kayaking Saturday with friends while Jen catches up on reading and relaxing. Then we spend our Sunday relaxing and gardening or going for a hike with our dogs and maybe a salad fresh from the garden.

We love to travel -- mainly for the food and cultural out of body experiences. We have been to much of Central America, South America, most of Europe, the Mediterranean, and India. Jiri has family in the Czech Republic so we have been there a bunch. Our favorite destination was India -- we have been three times now and would go again in a heartbeat. On our last trip we picked up our newborn twins, Mack and Maansi, born through surrogacy. Such an intense and truly miraculous experience! We would also love to go to Asia -- neither of us have been....yet -- but it is next on our list when the twins are old enough to travel!

Our philosophy of travel is to become immersed in the culture and simply eat, drink, and just be. To enjoy the rich pageant of life passing by from a bar or cafe. Our philosophy when it comes to hosting travelers is very much the same: we want to provide you with more than a place to stay -- we want you to have a unique experience and hopefully experience some of the things that we truly enjoy about our property. We hope you love it as much as we do.
