Beautiful hand built very private 1 bedroom and large lofted log cabin located deep in the woods of Cape Ann. Walking distance to down town Rockport and waterfront. Friendly miniature horses just 200 feet away that children love to visit.

For those who read a little deeper into the Dogtown Cabin description, between November 1 - March 30th we are pleased to take $40. off the list price for parties of just 2 persons or $20. off the list price for a party of 3.

The space

Applecart Farm is one of the most private residential properties in Rockport. Our property is surrounded by close to 2000 acres of protected woodlands and miles of trails, but is only a 5 minute walk to the train station and 10 minute walk to downtown Rockport.

Guest access

The guests will have access to the entire Dogtown cabin and the surrounding woods, and miles of secluded walking trails that start directly from our property.

The host's house has a small personal swimming pool behind their house and due to liability (and privacy purposes) we need to inform you ahead of time that guests will not be allowed in the pool. Many people who stay at the cabin never even know we have a pool due due the privacy around this property.

Interaction with guests

Our house is approximately 250 feet from the Dogtown cabin. We will be here to greet guests and provide any assistance you many need. We are happy to share time with our horses and dogs and share our knowledge of the local flora and fauna, restaurant recommendations and things to do.

Other things to note

You will likely be greeted by our two dogs…a golden retriever and a great Pyrenees mix. Expect our miniature horses, Jessie and Munchkin to say hello as well. They are all very friendly...if not too friendly to visiting guests.

The Dogtown Cabin is amazing.. It’s very quiet and peaceful but in walking distance to the train station. Eric and Julie are gracious hosts who are extremely nice. The dogs are so cool and loving. The horses are awesome as well!

Our stay here at the cabin was more than we could have asked for. Between Eric's hospitality, the location mixed with how secluded it is, and his wonderful dogs and horses, it was a perfect weekend getaway.

We booked the cabin for a Friday, Saturday stay on Thursday night. Eric and Julia were quick to respond and were wonderful hosts! Hayden and Azore (friendly dogs) made us feel like part of the family as well. We are looking forward to planning a return trip.

Eric's place is awesome! Not only is it a cute private cabin right off the beaten path from Rockport, but Eric and Julie are very friendly hosts. We got to play with their dogs, pet their horses, and Eric shared some of his tasty smoked fish with us. Definitely the place to stay on Cape Ann!

The reviews here were spot on. The cabin was the perfect getaway from the hustle of a chronic connected city life. We made breakfast in the stocked kitchen, headed out to play with the dogs and horses and hiked Halibut Point State Park as recommended by Eric. We hits the shops in Bearskin and had a wonderful seafood dinner in Gloucester. Back at the cabin we played cards, sang songs around the acoustic guitar, built Lincoln log cabins and just enjoyed each other's company. We are so thankful to Julie for her patience and guidance getting our young girls acquainted with the horses and dogs. We will be talking about this trip for weeks to come and look forward to returning.

Thanks Dave. We enjoyed having you at the cabin! I just need to remember to check if the wifi connection is running smoothly! A quick reboot always gets it going to full steam. Hope your able to come visit again someday.

This was a great place to stay: spacious, very comfortable, and surrounded by trees - offering a very relaxing environment. The close proximity to the commuter rail was handy for an excursion into Boston; and while one could walk to the station, we had young children so chose to drive over; you can leave your car at the station for free. We used the cabin as more of a base camp for heading into the town center, nearby beaches, state parks, and visits to friends, but it would be a lovely place to simply spend time in also. The hosts were very friendly and helpful. All good.
