Just outside Kampala, situated on top of a beautiful hill sits the Social Innovation Academy (SINA), which empowers marginalized youth to create their own businesses. One of them is the SINA Village with comfortable traditional huts for you.

It is up to you to have a quiet time, escaping from the hectic Kampala or to get involved in the SINA community, building houses out of plastic bottles, taking workshops, getting to experience the local villages around and interact with Ugandans.

The space

Please have a look at (URL HIDDEN) to find out more about SINA and what we do so you get an idea what to expect.

Guest access

We offer a safe and peaceful environment! We provide free WIFI Internet and the chance to get to know SINA from within.

Since we are on a hill (and surrounded by hills) mountain bike rental is possible, as well as kite rental. board games, football, volleyball and frisbee are provided for free.

– We are 6km away from Mpanga Forest Eco Tourism Site and 40 Km to the equator line.
– We can arrange for you a birdwatching tour to see the Shoebill and other rare bird species at Mabamba swamp.

Interaction with guests

We do not just offer a beautiful place to stay with amazing scenery and a peaceful environment. You can learn how upcycling works, how to create houses from plastic bottles, roofs from car tires, flooring from plastic bags and egg shells, briquettes out of bio mass, jewelry from plastic waste, etc. We are welcoming your ideas as well! You will get to experience the SINA community of young changemaker, who are working on creating social enterprises!
For as long as you stay, you will be part of our family and we can share and learn from each other.
We offer free (simple) breakfast, free WIFI and most importantly free inspiration through our projects for you to think beyond the conventional and question the status quo!

Other things to note

We do not have an official reception but people from SINA are there to attend to you at all times. Anyone will be able to welcome you and assist you. The latest time you can find public transport from Kampala to Mpigi is 8:30pm (no problem) or 9pm (with a risk of having missed the last one already). The latest time you can find a bodaboda in Mpigi is around 10:30pm to 11pm.
If you arrive at night self-driving, talk to our night guard, he will direct you or wake up the right person to assist you.

What an awesome time my girlfriend and I had at SINA!!! We not only had a unique accommodation in a typical rural house, but we got to know and understand the whole SINA project!!! A bunch of admirable young kids who are working in different projects to not only help themselves to grow but also to improve many "common" problems that are real in Africa. Very inspiring, and even more when they made us participate in some activities. If you want something real and connected with reality while you meet awesome people... then stay at SINA!!!

SINA, the Social Innovation Academy, is a unique place that lets you experience the serenity of rural Uganda and learn about social entrepreneurship and upcycling. The huts are beautiful and very comfortable, but keep in mind that water, electricity and internet can all be in short supply depending on the season.

SINA is a special place full of optimism and hard working people who work collaboratively on improving their lives the lives of their community and beyond. The location is amazing with views and being on a farm with sustainable practices. People are super friendly and like to meet. The huts are comfortable and big. Overall great experience.

SINA is an amazing place!!! My favorite place in Uganda until now because of the great place that work together to help one another in a practical way. Add to that the amazing accommodation and the scenic serene and peaceful atmosphere, and it becomes indeed a magical place. I suggest you stay here AND see if there is any knowledge you would like to share with the resident scholars at the same time.
