A peaceful location in the Dorset hills a mile from the centre of historic Shaftesbury. This unique property is located in an elevated position which allows for some of the finest views across the rolling countryside.

The space

The accommodation is finished to the highest standard offering four bedrooms, an upstairs sitting room and a balcony to take in the breathtaking views and sunsets that are something else! The property has been recently overhauled to reveal the 200 year old stone walls and extended with an oak frame with exposed beams and rooms opened up to the eaves. The modern facilities include a games room with pool table, a darts board and there are 2 sitting rooms with flat screen TVs. The historic hilltop town of Shaftesbury has strong appeal for holidaymakers. It is the home of Gold Hill, the setting for the famous Hovis advertisement with its steep cobbled street lined with picturesque cottages. This is just one example of the charm of Shaftesbury's historically preserved streets and buildings.

This is a lovely house to spend time in. Although it is a semi-detached, the main living area is an extension built onto the original gable end and is beautifully spacious and private. This house was clearly well thought out and designed from day one and feels like a real home. It has a very nice garden and patio that extends from the Kitchen via French patio doors - fab for bbq etc. The location is private and quiet and just a short (but hilly) walk to Shaftsbury town which has shops and cafes. We made blackberry and apple crumble with apples from the garden and berries from the nearby fields.

Great location in Dorset to explore. Good walk to Shaftsbury with lots of nice places to eat. Cottage itself secluded location with wonderful views. Lots of birds to watch & other wildlife. Loads of places to explore nearby most within 30 minutes. Cottage very spacious & pool table great benefit. Definitely recommended for Dorset breaks.

Great house & location with a welcoming feel. The setting is lovely with views across the Dorset countryside and easy access to Shaftesbury. The house is spacious & well equipped, and the trampoline, pool table and numerous games kept us all amused throughout our stay.

We had a wonderful experience staying at Saskia's beautiful house in Shaftesbury. We were two families with small kids and they found lots of fun things to do around the house (books, billiards, trampoline). The garden and the views are stunning and the house has everything visitors need, including fresh herbs and veg from the garden. A great place to stay in summer and in winter - it's cosy and warm, open and well lit.

Hi, I'm Saskia and live in Shaftesbury with my husband and four kids. I moved to this magical part of the world from London in 2008. Of all the places I've visited on the Earth including Rio, the Lost City, Santa Marta in Colombia, the pyramids at Tikal in Guatemala, La Paz in Bolivia; Shaftesbury is up there with them. I guess as life progresses one starts to realise the beauty of what you have on your own doorstep.
