We had been driving for 6 hours, there were car problems, and I was stressed from work. Not the best way to start a vacation. However, Dolors gave us a warm welcome, arranged for us to see her car mechanic and we chilled on her terrace looking out on the idyllic countryside. I loved the early mornings, the house and landscape offered gentle peace, only interrupted by the noise of the birds in the gardens. Dolors would get up early and go out for fresh croissants and as many people remarked - the coffee is amazing. There are several outdoor spaces to sit and relax; you can choose to chat with other guests or be solitary. Even when the house was full, everyone respected the quietude. The house is old farmhouse that has been restored and although the summer days were extremely hot, the fan in our bedroom was sufficient for comfort. Dolors is quite helpful with recommendations and travel tips that might not be mentioned in your guide book! In fact she suggested a side trip to an ancient basilica up the side of a mountain - a small simple refuge - of all the places we visited, this was my favorite. The location of Galliners was perfect for us: the general local offers a network of small villages and you are a short distance from the Costa Brava and Gerona. We truly enjoyed our stay here and recommend it to future travelers; the only caveat would be that the house is built on several levels, so if you have knee problems, this could be uncomfortable. I suggest that you write Dolors with any questions because she is very good at responding.
