We are about 40 miles from the New Orleans Airport in a really cool house on the edge of the swamp. This is a small town known for its antiques and quilts, but we are so close to NOLA that many choose to stay here to avoid the craziness of the city.

The space

We are so close to the city I grew up in and love; a city where there is free music almost constantly, and if you know where you are going, you will always be at home.

Guest access

The bedroom is actually the entire upstairs of our home. There is the main bedroom with the queen bed, a fridge, and other amenities. There is also an office space that has a futon that will comfortably sleep an additional guest (the third) at an additional cost of $10 per night. In the office/extra bedroom, there is a microwave, coffee pot, and snack station, as well as a work station. We have a printer available as well. You also are allowed to use the kitchen downstairs and additional fridge/freezer space if needed. Washer and dryer available as well.

Interaction with guests

It's up to you. You are welcome to hang out downstairs and watch my mega giant TV (LCD projector/satellite) downstairs. Also an extra half bathroom downstairs in case of an "emergency".

Other things to note

During the week, I get up pretty early and go. On the weekends I will fix you a nice breakfast, and during the week if I'm able to, I will do the same. If not, I will leave plenty of good stuff for you for breakfast.

I had a nursing assignment in Covington,LA for one night, which is a only a 20min drive from here. My boyfriend and I arrived around 10:30 p.m. and Felicia (Felix's daughter) was very welcoming, even though it was a little late. Felix was not home but he made sure that we found our way to the house with no problems via text messages. Felix's has a beautiful home in a very nice and quiet neighborhood. The home is very close to the local café and local shops. The room space provided is bigger than described. The bed is super comfortable! It was like sleeping on a cloud. Very clean and has a sophisticated white interior. Good closet space. Room was provided with complimentary red wine (yay! Thank you!!!) and cold beverages from a mini fridge inside the room. There is also a flat screen satellite TV in the room. Across the room is the super clean bathroom with his and her sinks with an assortment of bathroom essentials with clean towels. We had a wonderful stay in Felix's home. We would highly recommend staying in his home if you are visiting the Mandeville, Covington, Panchatoula, and NOLA area.

Felix was an amazing host. We flew into New Orleans late at night and he graciously waited up for us so he could show us our space. Space was bigger than anticipated and perfect for the three of us since there were a double vanity and nice shower. The location was a little less than an hour from New Orleans and gave us the small town feel we were looking for. I enjoyed feeling safe in his neighborhood and being able to drive around town and see a couple cool shops. Felix was would text us throughout our stay making sure we had everything we needed and was a joy to stay with. I would highly recommend this location and would return anytime.

Felix was very welcoming! I think the description of his home was accurate. I was recommended his place by an acquaintance who spent five weeks living in his home and had nothing but kind words to share. There were so many amenities offered, I did not get a chance to use all of them. The bed was very comfortable, plenty of pillows to choose from, and a nice little flatscreen to enjoy before bed. I was a bit of a recluse during my visit but Felix and his visiting family were always friendly and welcoming when I did show my face. The bathroom and shower were so pristine it looked like they had never been used. Many items are labeled for use, such as the remotes, which I loved. You can hear rumbling from the trains but it never bothered me. For those coming to visit NOLA, I'm sure no matter what your tastes, Felix could tell you where to go to have a great experience!

This is rather awkward for me. I recently lost my wife, the love of my life for the past 37 years. Tamara was a superhost for Airbnb and controlled our listing, both as host and guest. I have been trying to work with Airbnb since her death to simply change our listing from her name to mine, but that has not been possible. So, I'm starting from scratch. If you look at our old listing, you will see why she/we were superhosts.....she was an extremely giving host. I want to share her words with you from two years ago...

"I have been married to a really nice man for 35 years, Mother of 3 grown children, Mimi to 3 grandchildren. My husband and I garden organically, eat nutritiously, cook deliciously and generally try to truly enjoy every day that we live. We spend lots of time at music festivals and food festivals (we have lots of those for free in New Orleans), spiritual gatherings, volunteering for things we believe in and participating in some form of exercise; he likes Kenpo karate, I like Yoga and dancing, we both like any form of aquatic exercise.

Felix is very organized, I am very random. I thrive on change, he thrives on traditions. We are yin and yang and it is fun.

Conservation and respect of resources is a core value of mine. I love to meet new people and consider every guest we host and every trip that I make a wonderful opportunity for an adventure. If I were to choose one word to describe myself it would be "Advocate".

So you can probably see that I am somewhat lost without her but I pledged to her that I would uphold her standards in serving our guests. I look forward to meeting you and possibly sharing the wonderful things we have to offer in our area.
