We are about 40 miles from the New Orleans Airport in a really cool house on the edge of the swamp. This is a small town known for its antiques and quilts, but we are so close to NOLA that many choose to stay here to avoid the craziness of the city.
We are so close to the city I grew up in and love; a city where there is free music almost constantly, and if you know where you are going, you will always be at home.
The bedroom is actually the entire upstairs of our home. There is the main bedroom with the queen bed, a fridge, and other amenities. There is also an office space that has a futon that will comfortably sleep an additional guest (the third) at an additional cost of $10 per night. In the office/extra bedroom, there is a microwave, coffee pot, and snack station, as well as a work station. We have a printer available as well. You also are allowed to use the kitchen downstairs and additional fridge/freezer space if needed. Washer and dryer available as well.
Interaction with guests
It's up to you. You are welcome to hang out downstairs and watch my mega giant TV (LCD projector/satellite) downstairs. Also an extra half bathroom downstairs in case of an "emergency".
Other things to note
During the week, I get up pretty early and go. On the weekends I will fix you a nice breakfast, and during the week if I'm able to, I will do the same. If not, I will leave plenty of good stuff for you for breakfast.
No smoking inside, no pets. Don't care for rowdy but I can tolerate different. Alternate lifestyles accepted and embraced.
This is rather awkward for me. I recently lost my wife, the love of my life for the past 37 years. Tamara was a superhost for Airbnb and controlled our listing, both as host and guest. I have been trying to work with Airbnb since her death to simply change our listing from her name to mine, but that has not been possible. So, I'm starting from scratch. If you look at our old listing, you will see why she/we were superhosts.....she was an extremely giving host. I want to share her words with you from two years ago...
"I have been married to a really nice man for 35 years, Mother of 3 grown children, Mimi to 3 grandchildren. My husband and I garden organically, eat nutritiously, cook deliciously and generally try to truly enjoy every day that we live. We spend lots of time at music festivals and food festivals (we have lots of those for free in New Orleans), spiritual gatherings, volunteering for things we believe in and participating in some form of exercise; he likes Kenpo karate, I like Yoga and dancing, we both like any form of aquatic exercise.
Felix is very organized, I am very random. I thrive on change, he thrives on traditions. We are yin and yang and it is fun.
Conservation and respect of resources is a core value of mine. I love to meet new people and consider every guest we host and every trip that I make a wonderful opportunity for an adventure. If I were to choose one word to describe myself it would be "Advocate".
So you can probably see that I am somewhat lost without her but I pledged to her that I would uphold her standards in serving our guests. I look forward to meeting you and possibly sharing the wonderful things we have to offer in our area.
