A spacious 3 bedroom home that is beautiful, comfortable, warm and welcoming. The the mountain vistas are spectacular and the courtyard a little green oasis from the city, which is only few minutes walk away. A garage provides secure parking.
This is an old, Victorian house that was carefully doubled with a second story. The upstairs area has all wooden floors, a fireplace and magnificent mountain views. Here you'll find the main bedroom, the attached attached dressing room and en-suite bathroom. You can catch the winter sun on the roof garden.
The downstairs area encompasses a small, leafy courtyard, often dripping with flowers. A plunge pool provides relief on hot days.
The kitchen is set up for cooking and a dining table provides a place for combining cooking and conversation.
There are two downstairs bedrooms. One has a double bed (and a fireplace), the other a comfortable sleeper couch.
The living room is as a fine supply of books (for adults and children alike) and a fireplace to curl up next to to read them.
Guests have access to the whole house except for one small storage room, which will be locked. This means that there are various spaces for living, dining and relaxing.
Interaction with guests
This is my father's house. He travels a lot, so I am managing it for him during the times he is away. My house is fifteen minutes away, so I can come by and assist should there be the need. Otherwise, I am more than happy to take calls to give advice on anything you need, but you'll have the space completely to yourselves. Over the Christmas period, we would like bookings of at least a week.
Other things to note
If you have young children you will need to take care with the staircase and the plunge pool, but you will also find many toys and books to keep them occupied.
If you smoke, please do so outside.
Please treat the space with love and care.
You are most welcome to use the plunge pool, but note that it is chin deep for an adult. If you have young children please keep the doors to the courtyard closed unless you are with them, and keeping a very good eye on them.

I’ve done a turn or two around the world, but for a while now have been letting the dust settle on me a little in Cape Town. I’ve spent the last year renovating my house, building it around not-so-obvious gems I have found in markets and antique shops and given a bit of a shine. My home is made to be properly lived in and loved, and ideally any guests staying here would appreciate that.
I get my kicks from kiting and my highs from climbing. My nine-to-five is spent doing the research for my PhD in medical anthropology, on a topic I find dismal, but fascinating. I mellow out by getting dirt under my fingernails making things grow.
I will likely be round the corner in the city if you rent my house and would be happy to give the guidance and advice about getting the most of Cape Town if you require it.
