Room in a family run B&B, in an ancient 13th century tower, surrounded by olive trees and vineyards with peaceful garden and plenty of artworks, being home of a sculptor. Located on the border between Tuscany and Umbria, at 18 km from Cortona and Montepulciano and 10 km from lake Trasimeno, it is also easily connected to the best itineraries of this wonderful part of Italy: Siena, Arezzo, the Orcia Valley, Pienza and Montalcino, Perugia, Orvieto and many more...

The space

The B&B is family run and has 4 double rooms available for the guests. Its oldest part comes from the Middle Age, and it is known that Santa Margherita, the patron saint of Cortona, lived here in the XIII century. The little chapel is still a holy place. The owner is a sculptor and you can see his artwork everywhere in the house. The property is surrounded by the most enchanting Tuscan landscape, with olive groves and vineyards, just a short drive from the beautiful towns of Cortona, Montepulciano and lake Trasimeno. A small village is just one km away, with a convenient store and a bar.
The Cassaforte room is in the old part of the building, with a spacious bathroom with shower.
The family will be pleased to show you the amazing view from the tower and will help you find the typical trattoria which is not on the guide books yet or the small local producer where to buy Vino Nobile di Montepulciano or the best pecorino cheese.
Extra services on request: Traditional Tuscan breakfast with local products, buffet dinner on the tower or traditional Tuscan dinner in the garden), aperitifs with sparkling wine "just for two" on the tower (honeymoon special), cooking lesson followed by dinner: learn to make Pici, the local home made pasta! Please ask in advance

Guest access

The B&B is located in the house, but with a private entrance and separate from the owners' apartment. The 4 rooms for the guests, all with en suite bathrooms, are on the first floor , and share a sitting room with art books and literature about the territory, and free wifi.
On the ground floor the breakfast room (for the Italian breakfast included in the room rate), a large hall with a piano, and a peaceful garden for the guests to sit and relax, with a BBQ and tables and chairs to have breakfast outside.

Interaction with guests

The family lives in the house, the atmosphere is informal and relaxed, this is not a hotel! Antonella will be glad to give you information about the area, suggest the best itineraries and excursions, help you book restaurants, wine tastings or any other activities. Massimo is a sculptor and you can see him working in his workshop, talk about art and possibly carve a piece of olive wood together with him in his Olive Tree Garden.
Italian breakfast is included in the room rate and, on request, Antonella can prepare for you (at an extra charge) a traditional Tuscan breakfast with local products or a buffet dinner on the tower (pease ask in advance), an aperitifs for two (honeymooners special) or organize an informal cooking lesson followed by dinner: learn to make Pici, the local home made pasta!
Reception for small groups (with the use of the chapel) can be held in the garden or in the main hall.

A fantastic place in a beautiful location in the heart of Tuscany. The view from the tower is amazing. Antonella is wonderful and gives you a great welcome. The nearby agriturismo La Terra which is a short walk through the vineyards is well worth visiting for a great dinner with charming hosts Ilaria and Paolo.

Antonella's place was awesome. The pool was refreshing and the scenery surrounding the place is incredible. Antonella was so nice and made amazing breakfast every day. She was super helpful recommending fun things to do in the area. I would definitely stay here again!

We really enjoyed our stay; the grounds are beautiful (and the pool was a nice touch to have in the hot Tuscan summer weather), and everything went smoothly during our time there. There are good restaurants in the area (including one called La Casa Di Francesca that is only ten minutes away by car), so this place was ideal as a home base to explore hill towns by day and relax at night. Would highly recommend.

Antonella's home is a dream - easily the best place that we have stayed with Air BnB. The house is in a breathtaking location, the rooms are furnished beautifully and the gardens are a delight. The homemade breakfast was one of the tastiest we had in Italy. We found Antonella and her family to be the most generous of hosts and hope to return soon. Thank you!

This was a most incredible experience. The home (little castle) is everything and more that you see in the photos. What the pictures cannot show you is how caring and open-hearted Antonella is, or how truly magnificent the location is. We absolutely loved our week here. It was the perfect place from which to explore this region of Tuscany, and when it simply got too hot (which it did almost every day during an unseasonal boiling early summer), the pool was a fine place to be! You can spend hours too, exploring the house and Massimo's amazing sculptures and other artworks. Don't even think about it, just go!

Antonella User ProfileAntonella is a superhost.

Hallo, i'm Antonella, I've been living in this wonderful part of Tuscany since 1985, moving from Rome and never wanting to go back: this house is not just a big house, it's our home, a piece of history (Santa Margaret of Cortona lived here in the 13th century) and an atelier: my husband is a sculptor and his work of art is spread all around: this is a place for art lovers.
