The location of the apartment is pretty great, being within walking distance of the Liapades village, the pebbly town beach and the secluded sandy Rovinia beach. The town is not too touristy, but still offers several good dining options. Paleokastritsa is a short drive, Korfu town is 30 minutes away by car. The pool is great, the views are breathtaking. Having said that, the place can get pretty loud being at the intersection of 3 bars with music blasting until 3am on most nights even in the off-season. So, if you're a light sleeper, think twice. We didn't need the AC with the weather in the upper 20's lower 30's, the wifi was pretty steady.
The rooms are spacious and nicely furnished, the apartment seems to be pretty new and doesn't have a "lived-in" feel, roll-down blinds and mosquito nets on windows were helpful. There were plenty of TV-channels, but very few in English.
Practical remarks: the only "welcome" item we found in the apartment was one roll of toilet paper - no dish washing liquid, no salt or tea, not even a single bottle of water. There are 3 convenience store just a few steps from the apartment, but if you're arriving late, be prepared. A car rental office is 20 meters away, nice ladies working there, basic cars but good deals to be had. I found the car being essential for traveling around the island which has pretty decent roads and lots of great areas waiting to be explored.
On the downside: housekeeping leaves much to be desired. The cleaning lady largely ignored her duties, having paid only 3 brief visits to the apartment over a 2-week period that we stayed there, providing just a floor sweep downstairs and repeatedly leaving the bathroom fixtures or kitchenette area untouched and dirty. The towels were changed only once over the 14-day stay, although according to the house rules they were to be changed twice a week. Unfortunately, contacting the owner didn't help much. If Katharina managed to somehow fix this issue, her rental would be amazing. Overall, great value for money and a nice alternative to big hotels.
