Christine's place is a peaceful retreat, 1500 feet above the city of Kona. It is quiet and cool in the evenings, which I really appreciated, and I made good use of the kitchen, laundry, grocery bags, and snorkel gear. Christine was away during my stay, but her tenant Hannah took great care of me and the Airbnber renting the other guest bedroom. (The roosters are no joke - up crowing before 5am every day - but it gets dark around 7pm in Hawaii, so it was easy to adopt an early-to-bed, early-to rise lifestyle.)

Christine was an amazing host and the house was lovely! The room I was in was large and and had a lovely screened in porch with a view of the lush hills and ocean in the distance. I spent a lot of time sitting and chatting with Christine over tea or meals and she took me out to meet her chickens and collect an egg one day and I tagged along with her to the beach one morning :) The house is extremely clean and bright and the kitchen was very comfortable for cooking and there is a sweet walking path nearby. Staying at Christine's was really ideal for me and I highly recommend it!

So grateful for the serenity, privacy and convenience that Christine's house provided. It is very close (less than 15mins) from/to the airport and central places downtown Kailua-Kona such as the Kailua pier, the King Kam hotel, restaurants, shops where lots of activities start or happen. It was especially perfect for my choice not to rent a car but use ride-share options. It is also less than a mile away from a convenience store with freshly made food and essentials. The view of the ocean was beautiful and the fact that the house is on the mountain makes it very cool in terms of temperature. The bed was really comfortable and a towel and toiletries are provided. The internet was of fast speed and the appliances were great. Look in the magazines she provides and (URL HIDDEN) for discount on activities. If you love nature, you will enjoy the cooing of the birds and chickens as well as the sound of the frogs. The wall geckos are also quite pretty. Host: My goodness! Christine is an absolutely lovely human. She is kind, supportive and responsive. I am so glad my intuition guided me to her. I loved visiting the YWAM with her, feeding the chicken and we had deeply life-enriching conversations. I feel like I made a friend, which has been both my experiences with Airbnb. Be blessed and be in light always Christine.

Christine was a great host and her place was extremely comfortable and a pleasure to stay at. She also had lots of excellent tips about the area and made me feel right at home. The location is a quick drive from most things in town and pretty close to the airport. It's a ways up a somewhat steep hill so it will tend to be a little bit cooler than Kona itself which I actually really liked!

I'm a retired teacher, and have published a book. I volunteer in our local YWAM base as ESL teacher for children. I love Hawaiian sunsets, grandly viewed from my home's front porch. There are many wonderful beaches nearby, and I enjoy introducing folks to them.
You'll find Lihau House a peaceful place of rest after exploring our gorgeous island all day. (There's even a bus stop nearby where you can catch a bus part-way, or the whole way around the island.)
