~CHARITY:WATER
"A non-profit organization bringing clean and safe drinking water to people in developing nations. Clean water means health, income and education - especially for women and kids.
Health and Sanitation:
Diseases from unsafe water and lack of basic sanitation kill more people every year than all forms of violence, including war. Children are especially vulnerable, as their bodies aren't strong enough to fight diarrhea, dysentery and other illnesses.
90% of the 30,000 deaths that occur every week from unsafe water and unhygienic living conditions are in children under five years old. The WHO reports that over 3.6% of the global disease burden can be prevented simply by improving water supply, sanitation, and hygiene.

Women and Children:
In Africa alone, people spend 40 billion hours every year walking for water. Women and children usually bear the burden of water collection, walking miles to the nearest source, which is unprotected and likely contaminated.

Time spent walking and resulting diseases keep them from school, work and taking care of their families. Along their long walk, they're subjected to a greater risk of harassment and sexual assault. With safe water nearby, women are free to pursue new opportunities and improve their families’ lives."

~WESTERN CAROLINA RESCUE MINISTRIES (local)
"Our mission is to provide Rescue, Recovery and Restoration in Jesus’ Name. Each of the three components of our Ministry - Rescue, Recovery and Restoration - is about meeting people in crisis where they are, caring for them with dignity and restoring them to healthy, productive lives.

To really understand what we do, though, you must also understand why we serve. Our belief is that God has so much more for the men, women and children of Western North Carolina struggling with poverty, homelessness and addiction.

We are called to help bring stability to the chaos of these wounded lives and help them discover the plans and potential that God has placed in them.

Whether serving hundreds of meals each day, providing thousands of beds each year, offering a free residential addiction program, or equipping the working poor with life skills and job training, we are committed to reflecting the love of Jesus in a way that changes lives and transforms our community."

Had a great stay at Horse Shoe Haven! Laurie was a very hospitable host. We loved the large selection of teas and coffee. Laurie's place is full of interesting artwork and books we enjoyed. The kids had a good time petting Coffee. Will definitely stay again if we're in the area

This place is a bit off the beaten path, but it is nice. The owner is great to deal with and gives clear, concise instructions. I took my wife and four children to stay at this house and, given the need and opportunity, would gladly do so again.

Our bachelorette group had a great stay at the horse show haven. We needed a place to stay to accommodate 7 girls and was close to some activities that we had planned. We enjoyed two great vineyards in the area as well as exploring downtown Asheville. The area was beautiful! I loved exploring North Carolina for the first time. We all came from different areas of the U.S. Laurie has a beautiful place which we took the opportunity to get some great pictures of our group in front of her gardens.

The Hose Shoe Haven exceeded our expectations! My hubby and I and our 2 children, 12 and 8 as well as my dad, mom and brother met for a family reunion in North Carolina. We all had comfy beds, a great big kitchen, grill and outside deck for family meals and the location is unbeatable! If you want a stay that is close to everything....Hendersonville, Asheville, Dupont Forest, and Pisgah this is it!!! It has a very comfortable and zen vibe and Laurie was an amazing host. The yard is beautiful and Laurie helped us with supplies for two great bonfires. We could not have asked for a better vacation spot. We highly recommend Horse Shoe Haven! Thanks Laurie! We love your place!
