19km outside of the small coastal town of Plettenberg Bay. That Place is a self-catering house, on our private wine farm (demesne), situated on the edge of the Buffels Gorge overlooking the Elephant Sanctuary. 3 bedroomed comfortable house. Perfect for friends and family. Well equipped kitchen, open plan living & dining area. Lots of books, toys, games, Dvd's. Private garden with boules (pentaque) playing area, BBQ facilities & lovely entertaining area, private pool & sauna, wifi & parking.

The space

That Place is a great space to relax - it has lovely spaces both inside and outside with big sliding doors between the two verandahs creating a social flow. A swimming pool and sauna area (which is fenced in) and a completely enclosed garden. So lots of space to move and have fun in.

Guest access

The whole house is booked by the guest/s, so whether you are travelling alone or with family & friends, you have sole access to the house, boule area, swimming pool & sauna, and you have a private garden too.

Interaction with guests

That Place is situated on our wine farm: That Wine Demesne - we are next door if you need us, but we don't interfere, so you can relax and enjoy your holiday. We have a very informative guest info book which makes many splendid recommendations as this area is fabulous for activities, wine tours, sea, beach, mountain, animals, golf ...

Other things to note

You need to bring all your food, beverage & toiletry requirements with you.
The house is serviced - our housekeeper pops down during the week (not on Sundays or public holidays) and cleans and tidies and generally makes things look splendid.

We are in a semi-rural area with a lot of animal sanctuaries and nature reserves surrounding us. We do ask that guests respect the environment. Also, as we are on the edge of a gorge, sound carries, so that is a consideration when playing music or entertaining.
We do allow dogs (having nine of our own), so if you don't like dogs, then you'll probably prefer somewhere else to stay.
No smoking in the house, but there are a lot of open spaces where smokers can enjoy a quiet puff.
We are also in a high risk fire area, so guests should always be careful with the making of fires. There are designated areas (i.e the barbecue area and the fireplace in the lounge).
If you break something, just replace it.
There are two levels: the open plan kitchen/dining/lounge, 2 bedrooms and both bathrooms are on the upstairs level, and the third bedrooms is downstairs (no bathroom), and it's accessed via the outside deck. Please ensure you are fine with staircases.
There are also 2 steps which lead down from the car park area and one step which leads into the swimming pool area.
The swimming pool is fenced in, but all parents/guardians must please be responsible for their children/charges or anyone who is not a competent swimmer.
There are rules for the Sauna - they are easy ones, and it's fun, but you do need to be responsible using it.

Such a wonderful experience: a beautiful house in a stunning setting with an amazing host. We had two nights during which we hardly had the chance to take full advantage of all the property has to offer, from the swimming pool and sauna to the shelves packed with books in all the rooms. Joanna is an incredible host and has really gone the distance to make the place feel like a real home for adults and kids alike, one which we were terribly sad to leave. It's my new happy place, and will be a must-visit on our next trip to SA, hopefully for a bit longer next time!

It's rather hard to say who I am other than I am another soul living on this earth. I can say, that I am rather fond of my husband, son and all our dogs. I delight in living where I do and am excited about our new vineyard and all the future bottles of wine!
