Kosala's house is indeed 100m from the surf break. The charming 2-bedroom house is located within his family compound, directly across the street from Neptune/Good Story hotel. The house comes with beds, pillows, sheets, mozzy nets, and a ceiling fan in each bedroom. The kitchen contains a fridge, gas stovetop, dishes, utensils, a few pans, and a water kettle. The furnishings in the house are sparse but adequate by Western standards, yet very much in line with what you would expect to see in a Sri Lankan home. The floors are tile throughout the house. The only possible drawback of the home is that it is located between two busy roads, and some big trucks roll past during the night.
The house is a two-minute walk from eateries at Neptune, Bayview, Samaru, and Surf 'N Lanka, and less than ten from Catamaran, Green Rooms, and Weligama Bay Resort. For a lovely splurge, eat your farewell dinner at W15 across the street.
Kosala is a wonderful host. His perennial smile will welcome you to his family homestead and also send you off to new adventures with equal warmth. He went out of his way to make sure that the adults and the kids in our group were happy. Kosala is a champ!
All in all, you'll be hard pressed to find a better deal for two bedrooms and this much personal space, this close to the surf break. The "Hundred Meter House" gets two thumbs up from all four of us.
