House Rules

Per the County of Santa Cruz Planning Department, in order to obtain our Vacation Rental permit we are required to obtain a signed rental agreement from you where the following information is stated and agreed upon:
1. OCCUPANCY LIMITS-The Tenant certifies the limitations of this dwelling have been carefully read as set forth in this Rental Agreement INCLUDING LIMITATIONS ON NUMBER OF PERSONS TO OCCUPY THE PREMISES and agrees to abide by such limitations. No more than 8 guests may occupy this rental property at any given time2. THE MAXIMUM NUMBER OF AUTOMOBILES that are allowed on the property is 6. There is absolutely NO PARKING allowed in our neighbor´s parking space below the flag pole, or on the shared driveway. Parking is limited to our circular driveway, which can easily accommodate more than 6 vehicles.
3. NOISE/NUISANCE-Quiet hours are between 10:00pm and 8:00am. Tenant shall not disturb neighbors with loud noise or music, or unlawful or unsafe behaviors. Should tenant allow or participate in such behavior, Tenant will be evicted and forfeit the remainder of the rental fee and the security deposit. There is zero tolerance for parties on the rental property. If these rules are broken you will be required to vacate the premises immediately.
4. ANY ILLEGAL BEHAVIOR IS STRICTLY PROHIBITED-The Tenant will be responsible for any fees resulting from calls to the Santa Cruz Sheriff´s Department due to nuisance or illegal activity on the rental property.
5. Trash must be kept in closed containers. Covered bins for garbage and recycling will be provided and located next to the garage doors.
6. LIABILITY AND DAMAGE-This home is privately owned. The owners are not responsible for any accidents, injuries or illness that may occur while on the premises. The Homeowners are not responsible for the loss of personal belongings or valuables by the guest.
7. This home is not ¨baby-proofed¨and has stairs. The safety of any children in the rental property will be the sole responsibility of their parent/guardian.
8. HOT TUB USE-the use of the hot tub is done so at renter´s own risk. Use by children must be supervised by adults. You agree that the homeowner will not be responsible for any injuries or death incurred while using the hot tub.
9. We are in the midst of a water shortage in California so we ask that you remain mindful of water conservation efforts.
10. The primary guest must be 35 years of age or older and be present during entire rental period.
PLEASE NOTE that the 11% Transient Occupancy Tax is added to your total rental fee.

Brent & Sylvia's house is absolutely beautiful. A fantastic location looking out to sea, great well designed space, very well equipped, with amazing attention to detail throughout the property. Our group (3 couples) was down for a wedding and it served our purposes perfectly with 3 ensuite doubles. We particularly enjoyed the peace and tranquillity, the hot tub, the fire pit, and the open plan kitchen/living/dining space. We were a little surprised by the lack of window coverings in the master bedroom but the property is not overlooked and the sun rises on the other side of the house. I'd highly recommend this Brent & Sylvia's place to anybody looking for the perfect peaceful get away and hope to stay there again.

Brent & Sylvia's home was everything we could have asked for. It's an exquisite home with a very welcoming atmosphere. We appreciated the large well-stocked kitchen, the comfy living room, the amazing view of the ocean, the hot tub, the outdoor seating area (including fire pit) and the beautiful bedrooms (all with bathrooms). They were always quick to respond to any inquiries and made us feel very welcome. We'd give them and their house six stars if we could!

This house is gorgeous and well-kept, the view gorgeous, the kitchen well-equipped, the bedrooms terrific and the hosts super helpful. Hot tub in two rooms as well as outdoors, beautiful views of the ocean. We didn't walk to the beach (it was foggy most of our stay) but it is supposed to be a 0.7 miles walk, and it's an easy drive to many other beaches, 10 minutes to Moss Landing, 20 minutes to Santa Cruz and 35-40 minutes to Monterey. Really enjoyed our stay.

The location is perfect for a relaxing time. The description is more than accurate, and the photos do the property no justice. It was beyond our expectations. Sylvia is a wonderful host, quick to respond and very accommodating! We would love to visit again in the future!

Beautiful home in quiet area. Walk to beach is easy but takes about 20 minutes through a campground. Owners left us surprise snacks at our arrival. Note that the 3rd upstairs bedroom has 2 twins (one trundle) and door curtains to make it private, but the two upstairs bathrooms are inside the other 2 rooms. There is a half-bath downstairs for kids using the extra upstairs bedroom. We made it work and hope to return.

Thank you for your mention of the fact that upstairs we do have 2 bedroom suites, with the 3rd bedroom being a playroom with a twin trundle bed. This is described on my page. As I mention to all my guests, the 3rd bedroom is more appropriate for kids, whose parents would presumably be in one of the suites, and bathroom sharing would not be an issue. Again, I thank you for your mention of the upstairs layout, as this will be helpful for upcoming guests.

If you are looking for a beautiful place look no further. Hosts are amazing and accommodating. The house is beautifully furnished and great for kids. Room to run, hot tub, lawn for games, panoramic views, fire pit, etc. You're not on the beach but you're a nice half mile walk, or a 5 minute drive. Centrally located for visiting Santa Cruz or Monterrey. It was the perfect spot for a family gathering. If you're looking to be in the middle of the action you will be disappointed. If you are looking to get away from it all you have found the perfect place. Thank you Brent and Sylvia for a great long weekend. Oh and wildlife is amazing. Owls, birds, hawks, deer, whales and more!

Brent and I bought our beach house in 2008 as a getaway for our family. We enjoy spending relaxing weekends, as well as holidays here. I enjoy long walks on the beach, gardening and especially cooking with ingredients bought at our local wonderful Farmer's Market! Brent enjoys road biking in the hills east of our home, as well as taking our son out on our little sailboat or kayak down to Moss Landing. When our teenage son is not playing his guitar, he loves to surf the many great spots along the coast. Brent and I also enjoy wine-tasting in the small, family-owned wineries in the Soquel hills just east of our home. When we are not at the beach, our travels have taken us to Italy, France, the South Pacific, Mexico, Hawaii, and across the United States. We have enjoyed many memorable family gatherings here, and we hope that you enjoy our home as much as we do!
