Steve was out of town for our stay, but Ellie was fantastic! My mom said she felt like we were visiting close friends or family because Ellie was so welcoming, helpful, and kind. The animals are all sweet and entertaining too. If I am ever in the area again, I would definitely come back! :-)

The room is neat and clean with adequate space for two people, no air conditioning but the fan that is provided helps to keep it cool and it cools off in the evening. The town of Fossil is isolated and cell service is limited, but I was able to use my phone is our room and around Fossil with out difficulty but then I have Verizon which is one of the cell services that is available out there. Steve & Ellie do a good job of explaining this to you in advance of your stay so you can be prepared. There is no TV in t he room but that is part of its charm! If you are visiting the John day Fossil Beds you are within driving distance to all three units - Clarno, Blue Basin and the Painted Hills. The food at the local restaurants is a little pricey but very very good! We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and recommend it to a party of two wanting to visit the John day area!

Response from Steve & Ellie:
Lois, thank you for the feedback. I apologize for failing to mention that we can adjust the central air to your preferred temperature. I remembered about the windows but forgot that part. Since your room is at the back of the house it can be warmer than the front part. Thank you for bringing it to our attention.
