Great location
100% of recent guests gave the location a 5-star rating.
Welcome to our family home, located in a quiet suburb but within 10-15 minutes walking distance from university and hospital, shops, restaurants, bus routes and sea front. The room with ensuite is located in a side extension to the original house, with French doors opening onto your own patio area overlooking the lower level back garden. The room has tea/coffee making facilities and you can use the kitchen which is adjacent and shared with the rest of the family.

The space
The room is eclectically furnished, a mix of new and old, up cycled items. Previous guests comment how comfortable the bed is (Silent Night 7 zone memory foam), and how spacious the bathroom with toilet, wash basin and level access shower. I can provide a choice of wool, feather/down or synthetic bedding, and ample supply of towels. There is excellent WiFi to catch up TV on your own device, or you can join us in the living room. We sleep upstairs and our adult son has his quarters on the other side of the ground floor, so you have all the privacy after we retire to bed. You can exit/enter the room directly via the patio and side path but keys to the front door are also provided.

Guest access
You can store your own supplies in the fridge and kitchen cupboard, and use the induction hob / electric oven / grill / microwave / dishwasher. Access to washing machine and drier in adjacent garage can be arranged (included in the price within reason). No smoking anywhere in the house but I provide an ashtray and furniture on the patio.

Other things to note
We have two docile cats who will seek your company if the bedroom door is open! Overnight we close the kitchen doors so you shouldn't be disturbed.
There are 4 steps to/from the house both at the front and back so access would be an issue if you have poor mobility or a wheelchair user, and for this reason our place may also not be suitable for small children.

Our house is in a very quiet neighbourhood, in a cul-de-sac. It is a 15 minute walk from Singleton hospital, Swansea University and the sea front, 10-15 minutes to nearest shops, pubs, cafes, restaurants and ancient woodland Clyne Woods. There is a choice of nearby bus stops that take you to the city centre, or the other way to Mumbles which is a favourite with tourists and locals for Italian ice cream and coffee, quirky shops, good food and drink, and leisurely walks along the seafront. The amazing Gower Peninsula is on our doorstep.

Originally from the Netherlands, I've lived in Swansea since '91. I have worked as a social worker with adults with learning disabilities for the best part. In recent years I have worked through agencies also with other client groups. Locum work can take me away from home so my availability as an Airbnb host does vary. Living with me are my partner Niek who works as a freelance computer programmer, our 19 year old son Ioan, and two small cats Missy and Jazz. I have used Airbnb for leisure and work stays since 2013 and been a host since 2015. We’ve welcomed a mix of short- and long term stays for those on holiday, visiting family & friends in the area, or here for study or business reasons. We are close to Singleton hospital, Swansea university, and on the outskirts of Gower 'area of outstanding natural beauty' - Swansea has it all and I love sharing what I know and like about it. We offer a comfortable space and relaxed hospitality at our family home.
