A beautiful and lovingly restored gem of an apartment in the artists district of Pigneto. Giovanna is warm, welcoming and helpful and made my stay in Rome extremely pleasant.

Giovanna was a very good hostess, her place was just as the pictures and the neighborhood very nice. The only problem is that the house is not that close to the historic center as we though, there is no connection by metro so you have to arrive by bus and it takes time, specially at night. The rest of our stay was top 10 good relation quality/prize.

Giovanna's house is lovely! It has an amazing terrace and a very clean and modern kitchen. She is also very sweet and picked me up from the train station and even dropped me off. She made me feel very welcome and gave me books, an umbrella and cookies!

The flat was beautiful, very clean and spacious room. Giovanna was very helpful. Her English is good and to ensure we had the best communication she had her friends assist so we would completly understand. We quickly learned how to take the tram to the center and back to the flat. Near her street is a little piazza that was great for dinner and a late night stroll.

There are pro's and cons to this apartment. Your host, Giovanna, is a very sympathetic lady and a great host, but it can sometimes be difficult to communicate because her English is not yet very fluent. If you speak Italian, of course, there is no problem. When I arrived she picked me up from the nearby train station, which I found very convenient. The place itself is just as beautiful as the pictures suggest and was very clean. The first week I had the upper floor to myself, which was nice and private. In the second week other guests arrived and we were sharing bathroom, kitchen and the outdoor upper patio. Sharing the appartment with other guests can be positive I you want to meet fellow travellers, but also means you will lose some of your privacy. The appartment has 3 rooms that can be rented seperately, so it can become a little crowded. Location. I wouldn't call it a "central location". By public transport this apartment is on average 40 minutes away from most of the main tourist attractions and it sometimes can get a bit crowded on busses, trams and metro. Just around the corner from the apartment is a street with restaurants and bars, very Italian, and great atmosphere at night. There is also a supermarket nearby. Transportation. I stayed for three weeks and bought a Public Transport Pass valid for a calendar month, for just € 38. The apartment is located opposite Pigneto metro station. Unfortunately this metro line still needed to be extended to connecting lines that can take you to the center, but busses 51 and 81 and tram 5 and 14 will get you there as well. This was my first AirBnB experience and I enjoyed my stay at Giovanna's hide-out but on my next visit to Rome I will look for an appartment closer to the center of town. Rome of course is truly a unique city with fantastic architecture, food, museums, churches, piazzas, fountains..
