Host sent a text message as she was out and had prepared a lovely room with all the information we would need. We were able to start touring/sightseeing immediately. :-)

Hi Paul ...did you not see the Half and Half in the frig? It is half cream, half milk. It is in a smaller carton than regular milk . Oh well, next time!

Mary is a warm and genuine host who is interested in her guests. Her charming house is well set-up for travellers, including a guest kitchen with generous extras such as eggs, bread, milk, tea and coffee. The room was nicely furnished and offered plenty of practical features ideal for travelers. Nearby H street has a diverse range of restaurants for eating out. You only have to walk a couple of minutes to catch a bus to Union Station which offers plenty of transport options, or you can simply walk down to the Mall. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay with Mary and would gladly recommend it.

Mary's place is in a convenient and accessible neighborhood. The private bathroom and kitchenette was useful and everything was clean. Mary also helped us with tips to navigating the city and pointed out good places to eat which was appreciated.

Mary's accommodation is a perfect base for exploring DC. The walk from the flat towards the Capitol is lined with brightly painted row houses and gets you to the Mall in about 30 minutes but you could also take the (free at time of review) streetcar, which stops at 13th and H and behind Union Station. The rooms were tidy and inviting and the bed was comfortable. After a long day, it was perfect for relaxing and recharging. Mary was a gracious and very helpful host who offered suggestions on how best to get to her house. It was a pleasure to stay with her and I would recommend her accommodation to anyone passing through DC. Thanks Mary!

A lovely, clean, comfortable room. Having an ensuite was fabulous and the kitchenette is well equipped and very handy. The free streetcar down on H street to Union Station is a great way of getting in and out of the 'city' area and allows you to connect to all other transport (the circulator bus was great for getting all over and for $1 you can do a complete loop of all the sites to orient yourself, even do hop on hop off). Thoroughly enjoyed my time in DC. Didn't get to see much of Mary - maybe next time.
