Steve's place was fantastic to stay at while we explored the Lakes District as well as the very historic local villages. Driving on a single lane road through a paddock while sheep wandered across the road was an experience in itself! The house had everything we needed -including a deep bath after our big walk over the hills one day. Very comfortable bed, extremely friendly host & a cool area to stay. The George Hotel in Orton, 5 minutes away, was a great dining stop & they serve cold Guinness. Perfect. We'd definitely recommend Steve's place.

Had a really great stay in the cottage, great location for walks in the Dales and Lake District. The cottage was exactly as described and Steve supplied a PDF with helpful information, directions and local attractions.

Turnip House was a great retreat in a breathtakingly beautiful Cumbrian countryside. It is compact but well planned out and nicely furnished to ensure comfort and rest. The apartment is impeccably clean. We cooked daily and had everything to prepare both light and elaborate meals. The shower is roomy and has wonderful water pressure. The wi-fi connection was flawless and good enough to stream movies. Because we stayed for a whole month, Steve arranged for a cleaning maid upon request, who did a great job for a very reasonable fee. Steve provided many tips on where to eat out, hike and what to see. We are going to have wonderful memories about Steve's place and we definitely recommend Turnip House to anyone looking for a nice vacation in this part of the country.

Really cosy house, loved the décor. We visit Cumbria every year but have always gone to the Lakes, would really recommend this area, a lot quieter and lots of petty villages.

Perfection!! The cottage is beautifully decorated, very modern but still with lots of "cottagey" charm. It's immaculately clean and everything is in great working order, Steve is a great host and has lots of local knowledge. We stayed for 3 nights and wish we'd have had longer, we'll definitely be returning!

Lovely, exquisitely renovated cottage, perfect for a romantic break for two. Everything was beautifully decorated and very well equipped and Steve and Debbie were very helpful and friendly. Beautiful, peaceful setting with plenty of walks from the cottage and places to visit a short drive away. Highly recommended.

Steve and Debbie were great hosts and made us feel at home in their lovely barn converted to cottages. The Turnip House was all we could have hoped for and more. Open and airy, quaint farm life atmosphere, gorgeous views, clean, modern and super comfy!

Worked in the holiday cottage industry for over 20 years alongside my day job as a contract furniture supplier. Married to Debbie a felt artist. Well traveled, favourite places India and US, I know they are worlds apart but so interesting and varied. Local knowledge a key part of what we do, like to keep abreast of what's new. Involved in village life and a keen member of our local history group. Movie lover, weakness for good food, supporter of real ale and love to be out with Jess & Fin, our border collies on the fells...........
