We stayed at this beautiful hideaway in the Tuscan hills for a week in September of 2017, and were absolutely knocked out by the place. The location is perfect: barely twenty-five minutes' drive from downtown Siena and an hour of so south of Florence, immersed in the rolling hills of the southern Chianti. The house itself is very private, separated by hillside and forest from its neighbours, and with a view over half of Tuscany from the lovely large stone-flagged terrace. The grounds are filled with olive, cypress, and almond trees. We saw deer grazing nearby most mornings, and heard wild pigs rooting in the oak woods at night. If you are looking for hotel-type accommodation, or all mod-cons, then this might not be the place for you. The house is an old hunting lodge, very sympathetically restored to retain its original features, with a huge amount of charm, an open fireplace, wonderful roof beams, period details, and a living area that opens out onto that magnificent terrace. It is also, however, very well-equipped for a stay. Cooker, hob, dishwasher, and washing machine all work well, and there is a large fridge/freezer, as well as plenty of kitchen equipment and crockery. The bath is semi-ensuite to one bedroom, and the bathing arrangements are a little quirky, but the water pressure and hot water were good, even at the end of a very hot and dry summer. Wifi works well and is a good speed for such a rural location. Yes, the stairways are narrow, some of the beams are quite low, and the flagstones on some of the downstairs floors are uneven, but this is all part of the character of the place. We fell in love with it in a way that isn't possible at some of the more soulless agriturismos. Check in and out were handled perfectly. Antonella was here to meet us when we arrived and presented us with a lovely bottle of wine. All our questions were answered and communication was prompt and straightforward. I highly recommend this house for the right kind of guest: read the reviews so you understand what sort of place this is, but don't be put off - if you are the kind of person who is charmed, then the charm more than makes up for the quirks.

This was my second visit here in a year: the first was with my partner; this time with my mum as i knew she'd love the place. It really is something special. The house itself, originally a medieval huntsman's lodge, is totally unique -stunning from the outside and, while basically furnished, comfortable enough inside, with some nice decorative touches. The beds, especially, are very comfortable. But you really want to be out on the terrace. The views across the Tuscan hills and woodland are breath-taking. Easy to spend the days doing nothing but sitting outside, taking it all in. At nights it can get a bit cold, although there is central heating. But there's also a very good log fire, which makes the front room pretty cosy. Finally, Antonella, the hostess, was delightful and incredibly helpful throughout. Overall, i'd strongly recommend the place for anyone looking for a touch of magic, without necessarily requiring every mod con. I'll likely be back for more.

Finding the house was a little tricky but I have to take part blame along with the sat nav for that ! I had not printed out Augusto s directions and was relying on the address and postcode to find it which was pretty impossible. Thankfully that part was forgotten as soon as we were met and guided to the house as we were blown away instantly by its beauty! Although the photos reflect it well the location of the old stone house in its stunning surroundings is more than we'd hoped for and perfect for our first romantic break:) Wished we had stayed longer than 4 nights and would love to visit again. Thanks again and Hope to see you soon !

The first thing to understand is that this is a rustic property. We loved the quietness and serenity of the setting in Chianti. Waking up in the morning to sunrise over the hilltops and evenings enjoying the terrace. Be aware that some comforts are lacking. Chief among these are the washroom and bathing facilities. There is one small toilet in the main level by the front door and one toilet with sink upstairs. Also on the main level is a bathroom with sink and a tub hidden behind folding louvre doors. The tub has a hand held shower with low water pressure. This made bathing for 4 people impossible. During our stay we had a lot rain and there was an intermittent strong sewage smell on the main level. The kitchen and living room are on the lowest level and are accessed by a narrow spiral staircase. It should be noted that the beds are not king size as described. The main bedroom has a double (138 cm) bed and the upper level a queen (150 cm). The third bedroom had twin beds. The hosts were charming and helpful, providing a bottle of Proseco on arrival and offering itinerary for day trips. If you are OK with rustic accommodation this house is a great place to spend some time in Chianti.
