The house is tucked away on a quiet lane in Stockbridge. We have only one B&B bedroom (with two single beds in it). It's quite compact, freshly decorated and clean, and you have your own door onto a walled garden. You have a private shower room directly opposite your bedroom, and off the shower room there is a large sauna - just let us know if you'd like to use it (there's a small extra charge) and we'll sort out the rest. The room has a TV, radio and free WiFi.
Nick and Jennie are friendly hosts, local to Edinburgh and full of ideas of things to do (if that's what you want). There's a tray and fridge in your room so that you can make tea or coffee when you like, and we provide fresh milk, fruit and homemade flapjacks to start your day.
It's a great location, nice walk to the centre through the historic New Town. We're near lots of cafes, quirky shops and pubs, the botanical gardens and a riverside walk that takes you to two of the main art galleries, and the botanical gardens. If you don't fancy the 15-minute walk into town, there's a bus stop five minutes away and once on the bus you'll be right in the centre in just a few minutes. If you have a car, by the way, you can park in the garden and ignore the traffic wardens!
For those of you who are into your sports and exercise, there's a small (Victorian) swimming pool with a tiny gym round the corner and fitness classes, and British Military Fitness sessions three times a week in the local park (where you can also play tennis, cricket, football, rugby, bowling and petanque; or just feed the ducks!).

Just a few rules that help us to keep the room smart and clean - we ask guests not to smoke in the house , and although our two cats are very friendly and popular, we would ask you not to let them into your bedroom. They will try! But we prefer not to let them in, in case we have guests who are allergic to cats.
I was born and brought up in Edinburgh and I've always enjoyed living here. There is a real community atmosphere and great amenities available, which we love to promote. We can also recommend an excellent range of bars and restaurants, all within minutes of our home here in Stockbridge. Jennie, who is also local to Edinburgh, inspires everyone who meets her with her warm smile and welcome. We have felt sincerely privileged to meet many guests during the last sixteen years. They arrive as visitors and leave as friends. We love travelling ourselves and one of the best things is getting to meet locals so that's the perspective we take when we have guests in the house.
Both Jennie and I are keen followers of all sports - and the Arts. We both work in education, and are passionate about supporting a full age range of people with learning difficulties. Piping is also a hobby of mine and I can share some information about our national instrument if you are interested.
