The home was so beautiful! Much better than the (already lovely) photos show. The colors, textures, furnishings, and functionality were all so well-designed and aesthetically presented. It had all the polish of a 5 star hotel (e.g., automated skylight in the bathroom!), with all the warmth of a B and B (e.g., photos, tchotchkes, tons of bedding).
The extremely generously-sized rooms were immaculately kept up. The rental space can easily be made into two private areas (master and living room), each with separate access to the massive, decked out, shared bathroom.
The town itself is charming! If you use GPS, note that the most direct route may be straight up and down hills! A technically longer distance is usually also a less arduous path, and will still take you through gorgeous neighborhoods. Frauke's coffeeshop is the ultimate in fine coffee experiences, but there are several other gems to find. Best tip? Padagogium at sunset. There's a viewing terrace that's open to the public, even when the private school is closed for the day. There's another viewing spot up the hill, too, though harder to find.
Frauke herself is a wonderful hostess. Kind, patient, warm, smart, and helpful.
It's true that there are 86 stairs -- but Frauke mentioned to us that she'll be installing a lift in a year! Until then, we're happy to come back and take our exercise in such a delightful manner.
Extremely strong recommendation.
