Do you want to really feel like you are living in Hawaii? Maybe you've done the hotel thing and want to save money, or maybe you've stayed at hostels and want to try something different this time. Whatever your reason, Welcome - E Komo Mai - to Oahu!

The space

1 private bedroom furnished in my cute 2 bed/1 bath apartment in the heart of Waikiki. Nicely decorated to fit the island style with beach and tiki decor - close to restaurants and bars, buses and beaches, etc. Ideal location for a stay in Waikiki at a price much lower than the hotels next door! NOW WITH A/C!

You will have your own bedroom with super comfortable twin pillow-top bed with a view of the Ala Wai Canal and a great breeze from the tradewinds. Your bedroom door to the rest of the apartment has a lock so you can feel safe as your things are secure. It's nicely decorated, funky and eclectic because if you wanted it to look like a hotel, you could stay at a hotel, right? :) You'll have a full closet with more storage above, hangers, lots of pillows, blankets, spare linens, bath towels, beach towels, even ear plugs, sunscreen, snorkel gear and umbrellas if needed! I also have quite a collection of brochures, activity guides and maps at your disposal.

Access to the rest of the apartment is shared, including bathroom with shower, tidy and comfortable living room with tv/DVD, kitchen with full use of everything -all utensils and plates/bowls/cups etc.

The best thing is that you will be close to everything!! Great spot in Honolulu, with about a 6 minute walk to the gorgeous beaches in Waikiki! Wake up to the sunrise over the Ala Wai and watch the rowers in their outrigger canoes. Walk across the street to grab breakfast at iHop or coffee at numerous coffee shops, or at night get some great Italian, Thai or Chinese food literally across the street or go to Happy Hour at one of the bars nearby. If you feel like experiencing the nightlife just go another couple blocks over! Great location near everything Waikiki has to offer! That being said, it can get quite noisy at times as we are at the corner of two busy streets. Weekends can especially be loud but remember this is city living! The air conditioner that I have now does blend out some of the noises quite well and the windows being shut also helps.

Guest access

The bathroom, living room and kitchen are shared with one other person (me). I am in the second bedroom and have a separate door to outside so come and go a lot through my room. I can rent out my room on select dates as well so please inquire if you are interested in renting the full unit!

Laundry is coin-op and on ground level. I am on the second level, so you only need to walk up one flight of stairs.

Interaction with guests

Whether this is your first time in Hawaii and you are on a budget or are here for a convention, interview, visiting family, in between places or looking for your permanent home.....I will do everything to make sure you are comfortable and happy. I worked for a local tour company so can offer advice to activities and tours, or local hang outs and fun things to do. I keep to myself and am gone a lot so you may have the full place to yourself a lot of the time! I like to give you your space and respect your privacy though I am available 24/7.

Other things to note

Contact me for long term rates or if you might be interested in renting out my room as well, and renting the full unit. ***May also be rented with Ala Wai Tradewinds - one bedroom with queen bed, which would give you the full 2 bedroom/1 bath to yourself!!

-This is not a party house (though it can get loud being on a busy street).
-Outside smoking only.
-There's no microwave or dishwasher in case those are deal breakers
-Sorry, no pets :(

First Airbnb experience and was hesitant at first, but Rebecca was great with assuring that my first experience would be great. Rebecca was very friendly and was able to answer any questions/concerns I had before and during the trip. Her place was great and everything was available/accessible. Being my first trip to Hawaii, I can definitely say that her place felt like a second home to me and I'm sure it would feel like it for anyone else. Definitely highly recommend Rebecca as a host if you ever think of going to Hawaii!

Rebecca is a very generous and organized hostess. She has lots of perks and plenty of extras for her guests. She made checking in a breeze and helped with planning fun attractions to see. Location is prime to walk around Waikiki and her place is very clean and accommodating!

Very conveniently located apartment in Waikiki - in walking distance to all you need. I only stayed for two nights and didn't use any of the kitchen facilities nor did I spend much time in the apartment. As Rebecca was out of town I did unfortunately not get to meet her in person but she was super responsive and very accommodating. The apartment is in one of the older charming buildings not in a high-rise, which gives it a nice touch but comes with the downside of increased humidity. Noise-sensitive people might have issues with the traffic on the Ala Wei Blvd or the A/C in the living room. View over the canal and mountains is great. The quoted daily rate of 70USD is fair for the room - I had an issue with higher daily charge effected by AirBnB (110). I am working with Rebecca to get this resolved but as of this date it is not yet so I feel I better mention it here as well.

I had a wonderful stay at Rebecca's apartment, which is a convenient walking location for someone wanting to stay in Waikiki. It was my first time using Airbnb, and Rebecca answered all my many questions and was communicative about my arrival, stay, and departure. She went above and beyond providing advice (best place to get souvenir gifts, advice on what to do about a possibly-cancelled tour, etc), promptly answering texts despite what I'm sure was a time difference. The place is exactly as pictured and described, and was clean and comfortable. One plus was the detachable shower head. In the apartment, there was a lot of brochures and such information about various activities, tours, guides, etc. I especially appreciated the menus for tasty, close-by restaurants that I might not otherwise I have known to check out.

I really enjoyed my stay here; the listing was as advertised and I had a great time in Waikiki, just a short walk from the beach, bars and local amenities. I found it useful having a comfortable lounge to relax in and access to a kitchen. Additionally, a major bus route stops nearby, enabling access to all of Honolulu and a large part of O'ahu.

Since I was a little girl I was fascinated with the Hawaiian culture and anything to do with Hawaii and after visiting the islands on a summer break, I knew I wanted to live here someday. I grew up in Canada on a little island off the coast of Vancouver, BC and have always been an island girl though I also love the city life. I found Waikiki in Honolulu to be the perfect combination for me and have been here since 2011 when I followed my dreams and moved from Seattle, WA.

I like seeing Hawaii through the eyes of my guests...the excitement, the zest for exploring and seeing new places... I like meeting new people and look forward to hosting you! I want to make sure you have an amazing time while visiting Hawaii, and want you to feel like this is your hale (home) while here.

I am also listing my own room on select dates which could allow the full apartment to be rented. You can find my listings on here under "Waikiki Tradewinds" and "Ala Wai Tradewinds."

Please do not hesitate to contact me with any questions!

Mahalo,
Rebecca
