~ What is it? ~
Zamek Konarovice was reconstructed in to its current form in the 1600's, although there is record of construction on the site that dates back to the 1000's. The Chateau has a rich history echoing through its walls that includes famous composer Bedrich Smetana's composition of the first Czech language opera in the 1800's under the patronage of Count Jan Harrach. It is an historical monument and in progress of being carefully reconstructed. Beauteous sculptures and frescos that date as far back as the 1700's provide an unique feeling. Flora and fauna enclose the estate, a balustrade with statues and a parterre flower garden is made alive by peacocks that reside on the almost twenty private acres. The park has an historical botanical garden of ancient trees and two scenic ponds where one is able to fish. Benches are at the right spots and sheep are in the park to be befriended.
