The space

Set aside from the main part of the house you have the benefit of added privacy. This Mediterranean-themed former in-law apartment offers two bedrooms (connected by French doors), two full bathrooms, and a sitting room.

Above that floor are three rooms which we rent out separately (and we live here ourselves as well). The living room, dining room, and kitchen are shared.

Both bedrooms have one Queen bed and one Twin bed each.

And you could even put another friend on the sofa (which is basically the size of another Twin bed).

The kitchen is shared, on the main floor of the house.

Guest access

You have access to the shared kitchen, dining room, parlor, and the atrium (which doubles as our open-air smoking area).

Your room has its own little refrigerator. And you are free to prepare your meals in the kitchen.

We only ask not to drink any of the wine in the kitchen, hehehe.

Interaction with guests

I live on site with our miniature Australian Shepherd, Max.

We used to operate as a bed and breakfast for almost twenty years, so I am happy to give you as much information as I can.

Oh, and I also speak fluent German.

My husband, Fernando, is at home in the evenings and on weekends.

-Michael

Dates of stay 11/7-11/9/17 I came out to San Francisco with 2 other couples to celebrate my 50th birthday, and we stayed at the Belvedere House through Air BNB. The house was located near the Haight-Ashbury and Castro districts, and the neighborhood seemed quite safe where we were. We were able to park our rental on-street with no problem (use your emergency brake on those San Francisco hills!!). The accommodations were lovely, with our own private area in addition to use of the living room and kitchen (thank you for the fresh morning coffee each day!). Our area had a sitting area with books and a dorm fridge, and a spacious common bathroom with shower. Each bedroom had a queen and a twin, along with a sitting couch, and a fan and heater to keep us comfortable. One of the bedrooms had its own bathroom, which was also spacious, and plenty of towels. The house itself had fascinating architecture, with a unique outdoor smoking area right in the middle of the top floor, and the dining room looked on a gorgeous view that included the Golden Gate bridge (when it wasn’t foggy, of course). I could tell that the owners put a lot of care into decorating and upkeep of Belvedere House, and it felt welcoming and homey. There appeared to be another rental room on the top floor where the living/dining/kitchen were but I didn’t get to check it out. Overall we all had a wonderful experience here, and felt that the location was in a great area of the city, with plenty of (hilly) walking to nearby restaurants and historic landmarks. I highly recommend Belvedere House!

We had a group of family members meeting in San Francisco for the first time I was looking for a place that could accommodate the complexity of 'us' this review is for the apt I have also left a review for one of the rooms on the main floor ....communication was so helpful and the pictures helped tremendously. There are two rooms and two big bathrooms with a cozy sitting room with refrigerator. The sitting room was perfect for the six of us to visit to the wee hours of the morning. Tita, Tito and cousin stayed in one room and my husband myself and my sister in the other... room comfy beds ..great light during the day when you wanted and ways to make it dark and comfy to sleep "way in"~ you have room key for privacy and also a great set up for comings and goings - all instructions are complete and waiting for you ...clean beds clean towels hot water *sigh during our stay my sister from Germany but born from the Phillipines taught me how to cook in that kitchen like it was her own truly ...we had a full course feast and even we're joined by my cousin and her husband who live in the area - we had a full on family dinner with wine and laughter as if we were in our own home. Our host dropped in to meet the family and have a glass of wine ....oh and Michael so purposeful and deliberate in taking care of your needs ...he was like a breeze in and out ...Everyone of us loved our stay this booking is unique in that you have several living quarter options for many ...and as not all people are alike I appreciated the options upstairs in the single rooms as well for those who want more private quarters...The apartment rooms we stayed in is very separate from the rest of the house and you could come and go with out ever even going up the stair case ....outside is such a treat ..the interesting change in daily temps and shade....btw - one of the apt rooms could make the total 7 people fine the couch looked big and comfy...for the price you cannot beat it ...book it ...you will I Love You it ....you really feel like the history of the place is somehow shared with you during your stay the art and decorations are so perfect and the music ...softly classical and encouraging Parking was not an issue for us and we had a seven seated SUV!! Just be sure to pay attention to Michael's directions and you will be fine!! Hardly ever was far from house and for most part very close Our group was from 27 up to 80 years old it was nice to all be together in this downtown San Fran historical, well loved and cared for home ....for your time there it will be home I will go 'home' again...

Nice place and area! We had to walk about 5 minutes to reach a bus/metro stop. And the coffee was prepared in the morning by the host!

Michael was an amazing host even before we booked with him! He reached out to let us know exactly how the space is set up before confirming our reservation. When we arrived he was there to greet us, give us a tour of their lovely home, and made sure our car was parked in the correct area. Very clean, welcoming, and convenient listing. Truly a wonderful experience from beginning to end, highly recommended!
