A perfect week in la Posada del Agua y Fuego ... so perfect indeed that we prolonged our stay and booked another week while we're here and are still enjoying this lovely place! We initially booked 'Room Violeta' within the boutique style building on site, which is beautiful with A/C and all, but switched to a triple in 'Casa Aire' -- one of three wonderful houses on the area that each feature their own open space common area and kitchen. Most of the walls just consist of gauze to keep the bugs our, so you kind of live right in the nature -- no need for A/C due to a constant breeze (and there are fans, too). The whole place is huge, has both a lovely natural pool and a cenote, some beach like area for the kids to play at, a trampoline, bbq areas and more -- add the bicycles (free of charge) plus super-super friendly and amiable, welcoming staff. It's a bit of work to get a daily routine without a rental car (walking to the pueblo takes some hot 15 minutes; I wouldn't know how long to the Xcacel Beach), but we managed just by using the bikes. Just keep in mind that you'll consider twice before walking to the village. We'll definitely be back!

We loved our stay at la posada. Geraldine is a wonderful host and made us feel at home. Since the next bus stop and restaurants are quite far away, it is a lot easier if you have a rental car. The posada is in the middle of the jungle and you wake up to jungle sounds. We also absolutely recommend the fantastic breakfast!!

This is a wonderful place, off the beaten path between Akumal and Tulum. The room was lovely and clean, the staff gracious, the location magical, the breakfast terrific. Very international clientele, quite kid friendly. Their small pool and cenote were nice distractions. Massage therapist came onsite and was great. Only (minor) downside for us was the drive down the mile-long very bumpy dirt road from the town.

La Posada is an amazing hidden gem in the jungle of the Riviera Maya. Géraldine is a wonderful and charming host. The property includes a lodge with eight rooms, and several separate rustic villas. We stayed in the lodge. The rooms are nice and have beautiful small bathrooms with rainfall showers and spa quality soaps and shampoo. There is a large central lounge area and a separate, large bathroom. The large flat roof is an amazing place to sit at night and stargaze. Breakfast is a multi course meal. During our stay it always included coffee or tea, fresh fruit, yogurt, different breads, pastry, smoothies and eggs cooked in different ways. There was also a rotating selection of French and Mexican dishes including crepes, french toast, sopes, handmade tortillas and pancakes. The meal is served outside under the palms and is absolutly delicious. One night Géraldine and the staff hosted a barbecue and cocktail party. The food was great and mingling with the Mayan staff and other travelers from different parts of the world was fun. The amazing pool is carved right into the limestone rock. A pathway and staircase leads from the pool down to the property's private Cenote. The little town of Chemuyil is only five min by car. It has some great little restaurants. We loved La Posada for mexican food and Leo's for pizza. (the octopus pizza is the best!) The town comes alive after 7pm when many of the residents come home from work at nearby resorts. A nice Cenote is about halfway between La Posada and Chemuyil. It's beautiful, but might be crowded with people who come with a local ATV tour. The beach at Xcacel is directly across the highway from Chemuyil. When we went the parking lot was packed, but the beach is large and didn't seem crowded at all. Bring food and water with you because the only facilities are a bathroom and shower. Géraldine loaned us two beach chairs and an umbrella for our beach days.

Our stay was excellent at La Posada del Agua y Fuego, perfect place to getaway from mega hotels in Cancun. Communication with Géraldine was easy and quick. Driving there was easy, the last 1 km is off the beaten path. Once we arrived, the team was super polite welcoming. We had a brief tour of the posada including the pool and cenote, very well maintained. We brought our toddler kid, and they were very kid friendly. The room seemed brand new, super clean. Breakfast provided everyday, room cleaned everyday. We enjoyed spending time at the posada after a long day at the beach. It's well located between Akumal and Tulum, and really close the Chemuyil beach.
