'Finestre sulla Valle' is Italian for 'Windows on the Valley.'
You will feel your body relax and blood pressure go down as you pull up the winding driveway of our luxury custom built home in the Sonoma wine country and experience its awesome views. You are surrounded by heritage Oaks and Madrones which creates the feeling of being in the middle of the woods. This secluded 2700 sq. foot home on 3 acres is at the end of a private road but conveniently only 3/4 mile from Highway 12 and its access to all that the Sonoma Wine Country has to offer. You enter into the Great Room which has a cozy lodge feeling with an artisan river rock, wood burning fireplace and 16 ft. floor to ceiling windows showcasing the spectacular view across the Sonoma Valley of the Moon to the vineyards on the far side of the valley.
The gourmet kitchen features granite counter tops, a Wolf Range, and a large island with a prep sink. It is often the central gathering place for wine and antipasti while someone is preparing dinner. The kitchen is fully furnished with equipment for anything from snacks to a 5 course meal as our family, who loves cooking, uses the home as a retreat from the hustle and bustle of our busy lives. The room was painted by a local artist in a Tuscan ochre color-wash. With the candlelit wrought iron chandelier above the dining room table as well as the many candles throughout the room, it brings to mind a warm rural Italian ambiance-especially with all the surrounding vineyards! In addition, there is a Weber propane gas grill with all the useful BBQ tools available just off the deck.
There are 3 full bedrooms and a den in which to retire. The Master features a queen bed with an attached full bath that has the beautiful valley view and a deck. The second guestroom on that floor features twin beds that can be easily made into a King which views the quiet wooded surroundings. The third bedroom is on the lower floor and features an antique queen bed and view of the valley as well as secluded trees. There is a den off the Great Room that has a comfortable Queen pull-out sofa bed.
You can sit on one of the two spacious decks with a glass of wine or a quiet cup of coffee in the morning and enjoy the views of the valley, hills, vineyards and breath-taking sunsets or on the other deck, where you can feel the coziness afforded by the seclusion of surrounding trees.
In addition, there are other activities available in the house.
The very large Bonus Room has an 8 foot Slate Brunswick pool table and Ping-Pong table as well as a horse bristle dart board. This room effectively allows part of a group to be off by themselves if so desired. The home has Wireless Wifi, 2 TV's with Satellite reception with Blue Ray and stereo.
Located conveniently about a 5 minute drive west of the Sonoma Plaza, you are perfectly situated for strolling the local boutique shops and exploring it's trendy restaurants. The house is also just down the road from the world-renowned Sonoma Mission Inn with its day-spa facilities and pool, if pampering is on your itinerary.
Heading north on beautiful Highway 12, you can visit historically and enologically famous wineries as well as up and coming new ones. We are available to assist in making arrangements for tours and tastings at any number of wineries from Valley of the Moon or other, less explored areas such as Dry Creek and Alexander Valley. We even have a fully loaded picnic basket that you can use to picnic among the vines or at one of many gorgeous wineries! We can be invisible or an integral part of your stay in our home with advice, directions, or reservations. Please let us know how we can help to enhance your stay in the spectacular Sonoma Valley!

In 1985, after having caught what we refer to as the “Italian Bug” (long before Francis Mayes!), we were spending lots of time wandering the Tuscan countryside. Many years later, after wondering the Napa and Sonoma Valleys we found that Sonoma’s wines as well as climate reminded us of Italy in many ways, so we chose this valley to build our home. We found our three acre property and kept moving the house site further up the hillside, each step developing into a more lovely view. When deciding on a name for our home, we felt that it needed to describe our wall of windows that looks on to sweeping views of the beautiful Sonoma hills. Finestre Sulla Valle is our weekend home that incorporates our shared interest in wine and the Italian countryside. We hope to share that with you.
